I'm very excited to finally share the first trailer of my most recent work. Last September (2025) I directed an 8 hour durational performance in Hamburg for the 100th anniversary of the Hamburg state teacher's institute (abb. LI Hamburg). Thank you for your trust @heinzgrasmueck

Sunday was the opening and I feel blessed to play pieces from amazing artists like Sandhya Daemgen, who also coached our ensemble, @nkisiii Julius Eastman, @christian_naujoks_ @yokoono and so many more in the next 7 weeks. Also I'm performing my own, most recent song, Imagined Paintings (on the canvas of love). So one more reason for you to come to the show!

Zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung [a noise in the ear like the wind] von Christian Naujoks performt der multidisziplinäre Künstler Christopher Loy ein Stück von Naujoks, das auf mikrotonalen Intervallen basiert. Diese regen ein differenzielles Hören an, das darauf abzielt, sich auf den Körper, die Umgebung und andere einzustimmen.

Christopher Loy arbeitet vorrangig mit Performance, Sound und Video. In seiner Praxis begreift er das Cello als physisches Interface, in dem sich Geste, Bewegung und Klang gegenseitig formen und verändern.

TENSE (35 sec.)
“TENSE (35 sec.)” is an unstable dialogue between acoustic and electronically processed cello, movement and architectural space. Based on 35-second live recordings which are continuously reshaped by algorithms, transformed sonic fragments return in altered variations across the ACUD courtyard, blurring distinctions between resonance, memory, spatial distance and temporal tension.

✯ Christopher Loy works across performance, sound and spatial environments. In his practice he approaches the cello as a physical interface, where gesture, movement and sound continuously reshape one another. His works unfold as hybrid situations between concert, installation and choreographed relations.

Loy has performed at Maerz Musik (Berliner Festspiele), Hošek Contemporary, MEGA STILE and with Kunsthalle for Music by Ari Benjamin Meyers, among other contexts. “Performative Symposium” (2025), his recent project, is an 8-hour interactive composition translating architectural, historical and social space into a performative structure.

Christopher Loy for MEGA STILE

Christopher Loy works across performance, sound and spatial environments. In his practice, the cello becomes a physical interface, where gesture, movement and sound continuously reshape one another. His work moves between concert, installation and moving image.

Loy has performed at Maerz Musik (Berliner Festspiele), Hošek Contemporary and with Kunsthalle for Music by Ari Benjamin Meyers, among other contexts. His recent project “Performative Symposium” (2025) is an 8-hour interactive composition translating architectural, historical and social space into a performative structure.

For MEGA STILE, he presents a site-specific performance titled “Inside-Out”.
