I still can’t believe I’m done with high school golf but I’m proud of how I ended it. It’s so rewarding to finally medal after making it to state every single year and coming so close the past couple years and coming up short. Thank you to every single person who has supported me over the years, and I am forever grateful for everyone I’ve met through this horrible addicting sport. I wouldn’t be who I am today without you all.

Last week I ended my junior golf season by competing in the Missouri Class 3 State Championship for the third year in a row, and I placed 24th out of 89 girls.
Although I didn’t do as well as I had hoped, I have a lot of positives to take away from this season. Golf is one of those sports where you could hit the same shot hundreds of times and your ball could land in 100 different places. You have good breaks from bad shots and bad breaks from good shots. Golf is not a game of perfect, and no person or golfer is ever perfect, or even hits good shots every time. It can be really hard, especially as someone who is very perfectionistic, to accept that. I know how hard I’ve worked, and no one can see everything I’ve done except me and God. I had over 100 chances to give up or give less than 100% on a shot, but I took a step back, took a deep breath, did my preshot routine, and hit every shot knowing I tried my best. Golf is such a mental game, and it’s so hard to truly understand unless you play golf at a competitive level. Although I trained super hard this summer and during the season, there’s only so much you can do to prepare for the unique conditions you face during every single shot on the course. At some point, it is just up to God to decide what happens, and I am learning to trust in His plan. I have grown a lot as a person and as a golfer since last season, and I am really proud of myself for how hard I worked all year, and how I never gave up when things weren’t going my way. I know that I didn’t reach my goals at state, but I can’t do anything to change how I did, and I can only reflect on the experiences and move forward towards my new goals. I also know that my whole season is not defined by two days. We had 8 9-hole regular season matches, and I was the overall low medalist 6 times, my season average was 38 for 9 holes and 84 for 18 hole tournaments, and we had 5 team wins—all of which are significant improvements from last season. It can be easy to place so much pressure on the state tournament to the point where it completely overshadows the whole season but all that hard work got you to state in the first place, and it’s not something to overlook. taken in Rivercut Municipal Golf Course by @elleschaefergolf

state bound! #yearthree

Although we fell short of going to state as a team this year, I am so incredibly proud of us and how hard we fought and improved throughout the season. I love these girls so much, and the bond we have both on and off the course is something I thank God for every day. There’s no one else I would rather spend countless hours at paradise valley chipping and putting while coach yells at us to stop talking, and there’s no one else I would rather have fighting over who didn’t have to share a mat with the lefty (me) at tower tee. We went from having 1 win my freshman year to winning 5 matches this year which we should be so proud of. Our improvement this season has been so amazing to watch and I couldn’t be prouder of how far we all have come in such a short season. Even though I will be going to state without my team and best friends, I can’t wait to represent @nerinxgolf23 and make them proud.

To my team, playing partner, the best carpool ever, my family, friends, swing coach, and everyone else who supported me throughout this season, thank you. This wouldn’t been possible without each and every one of you, and I can’t wait to see my hard work from this summer and this season pay off at state!

postseason results:

Today my team and I played in the rockwood summit shamble tournament at crescent farms, and I had so much fun. I definitely left a lot of shots out there and I didn’t play my best golf, but I’m still proud of my score. It’s always a little tough having an early morning shotgun start just with how wet and cold the course is at 8am, but once it warmed up it was a lot better. I still walked away with a 79 (+7) and tied for 5th place which I’m not too mad about, even though I know I can do better. I had no 3 putts the whole day, 3 birdies, and I even drove a green. I had some disappointing missed birdie putts, but I can’t be too hard on myself because it’s only our first 18 hole tournament of the season, and I’m already doing better than I was last year. Overall, it was a very fun tournament and I had a lot of fun with my playing partner for the day @ava_.heaney and I can’t wait for our match tomorrow against notre dame 🙌

This week I played in the @accelerated.golf.tour 2-day tournament at Far Oaks and I finally hit one of my season goals—to place in a tournament. Although I left many shots out there (shoutout to that one par 3), I’m starting to see a lot of improvement in my game and my hard work in practice is starting to follow me to the course. I was hitting most fairways and hitting my driver consistently, my putting was pretty solid over the two days, and I made 4 birdies (all on par 5s) across the tournament. I definitely need to work on my approach shots and be more confident chipping around the greens to put myself in better positions to have less putts and make more up and downs. Overall, I’m super proud of myself for how I handled my mental game throughout some bad holes and how I bounced back and placed in a tournament for the very first time!

Thank you to everyone at agt for helping put on such great tournaments and thank you to everyone I played with, you all were so amazing!

Only one more tournament until high school golf!

This week I played in the @missourigolf 2-Day Summer Showcase at Rivercut GC and I had a lot of fun playing with all new people. Although I didn’t score as well as I’d hoped, I was really proud of my ball striking and my driver was very consistent across both days. I was putting pretty good, but it was just one of those tournaments where nothing was dropping, which made it hard to make birdies. Overall, I’m starting to see my game improving as I’m working on my swing changes and my weaknesses, and I’m going to keep working and hopefully I will start scoring better in the rest of my summer tournaments.
Thank you to mga for putting on an amazing tournament, my godmother and her fam for letting me crash at their house all week, my mom for all of the pics, my playing partners for being great both days, and everyone else who supported me this week—it always means a lot!

Last week I played in the @gatewaypgajuniors 2-Day Jr. PGA Championship qualifier at Gateway National, and it was definitely not my week. I struggled off the tee, and I struggled to make putts, which usually helps my score, but I just couldn’t get any momentum going, making it really hard to post a good score. Not to mention we got poured on for most of the second day, which made the greens super unpredictable and the rough a lot tougher to hit from. Overall, I played well worse than my average and I left so many shots out there, which made it really hard to remain positive and not be too hard on myself, which is something I definitely struggle with. Although it’s easy to forget in the moment, bad shots, bad rounds, and even bad tournaments are just a part of golf, and don’t define you as a person. Looking back on the round, I learned a lot from the experience and the amazing people I played with, and I can use that to keep working and improving on my weaknesses.
Stats:
Gateway National Golf Links - Madison, IL
5856 yards, par 71
91-94 = 185 (+43), 29th out of 41 golfers

This week I played in the @metamateurga 3-Day Jr. Amateur Championship at Aberdeen GC and although it didn’t end the way I had hoped, I still had a lot of fun and I now know what I have to improve on. This was my first ever 3-Day tournament, and it was a course I had never played before my practice round on Saturday, so I didn’t really know what to expect going in. Over the three days, I hit many sand shots, drank lots of water, and got to play with amazing people. Although you wouldn’t be able to tell from the scores, my sand game honestly saved me, and I would probably say that was the strongest part of my game this week. Additionally, I’ve been working on my putting, and all three rounds I had less than 36 putts (31,32,35) which I am super proud to see. I have always struggled to hit greens in regulation, and the past two weeks especially made me realize I had to work harder on my approach shots, and I think once I start improving in that area, my scores will start to improve as well.
Stats:
Aberdeen Golf Club - Eureka, MO
5952 yards, par 72
81-85-86 = 252 (+36), 12th out of 14 golfers by @elleschaefergolf
