Textile Tuesday! Hi my name is Elle Swift and I have been designing fabrics and working full time as a Art Director and Textile Designer for over 15 years. I work with interior designers and architects creating custom fabrics for high end commercial interiors. As a textile artist we work behind the scenes. We rarely get recognized as artists(lots of people never even heard of a textile artist )so when I saw a museum show honoring Jacqueline Groag in Palm Springs I had to go. Seeing the fabrics on display in a museum was inspiring. Here is the museum write up -The Palm Springs exhibition of prominent British textile designer Jacqueline Groag takes on greater meaning thanks to accompanying drawings that show her creative process at work. The show is happening now. Groag made her mark in pattern design following World War II. She was born in Prague in 1903, and trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna in the 1920s under Josef Hoffman and Frank Cisek. Check it out! @psartmuseum #jacquilinegroag #textiletuesday #surfacepatterndesign #surfacepatterndesign #fabricdesigner #cloth #spiritintgecloth #materialgirl #artmusuem #palmsprings #textileshow #patternlove #patternplay #patternplayday #interiorstyling taken in Palm Springs Architecture and Design Center by @elleswiftart

Do you ever wonder what is the meaning of motifs used in design? Take a triangle for example-
The triangle has been a part of our culture for eons and understanding all the meanings we have placed in it can lead to enlightenment in ways that you may not expect. The oldest evidence of triangles are Pyramids, with many spiritual meanings placed behind the shape of pyramids, focusing power to the center in the most efficient way. Asian culture has many triangles as well, with both Hinduism and Buddhism focusing on the three points of power on the body.
As a textile artist I use many symbols as repeating motifs.
In this one I created many different color variations and backgrounds. When a textile designer shows color options it’s called color-ways.
What color combinations do you like here? What do you think about triangle
patterns? #symbols #textiledesign#pattern #textilepattern #elleswift #triangle #symbolsinart #fabricdesigner #trianglemeaning #triangleart #watercolor #watercolorpainting #colorways #colorwaysfordays taken in Joshua Tree, California by @elleswiftart

Metamorphosis of Nirvana
"Spread your wings and soar with me while we sip nectars
of dreams and free fall into the sacred hoop.
You are no longer captured by yesterdays woes but transforming like a kaleidoscope
of changing patterns.
I see you weaving this moment into golden threads
of unwavering metamorphosis and I’m proud of the
path your on"
