The work of sculptor Jeffrey Brosk is heavily influenced by the American West, a region whose mountains, vistas, and flowing prairies have long been a rich source of spiritual and aesthetic inspiration for American artists. The warm wooden tones and strong lines of Brosk’s pieces reflect his preoccupation with this vast and rugged landscape.

Brosk’s sculptures are a testament to a powerful harmony between artist and materials: organic forms and natural wooden grain work in tandem with right angles and blocks of gold leaf. Brosk takes as his starting point salvaged pieces of wood and stone, among other materials.

Currently on view in our exhibition Gilded Landscape with painter Bruce Brainard.

Raised in a small farming community nestled under the Idaho Tetons, Bruce Brainard draws inspiration from early American landscape artist George Inness. Brainard’s scenes of trees and sky emanate an inner tranquility and evoke the infinite in a manner that harkens back to the great German Romanticist Caspar David Friedrich.

Brainard’s compositions are also distinctive for their warm realism and deft handling of light, which suffuses the canvas and animates the spiritual dimension of his work. Brainard has been devoted to the exploration of the landscape and a conduit for meaning throughout his career. He received both his BFA and MFA from Brigham Young University in Utah, where he continues to live and work.

Join us this Friday September 18th from 6 — 8pm for the opening reception of Gilded Landscape with Sculptor Jeffery Brosk.

Last summer, I completed a series of works on paper titled “Sacred Letters,” inspired by Celtic lettering as part of my solo exhibition with @ellio_fineart in Houston.

Several of these softly patterned works are still available, made of graphite, candle smoke and gouache. I was inspired by the ways in which ancient letters have meaning and spirituality embedded in them, even if I cannot read them literally. Framed in white wood, they are available and offer a feeling of tranquility and warmth.

Swipe to see all of the available works!
For inquiries, contact: info@elliofineart.com or DM me.

Audrey Tulimiero Welch‘s abstract layered paintings can be read as metaphoric ‘maps’ that contain in their embedded layers personal stories and lived relationships of daily life.

From 2002-16, Welch lived and worked in countries of the Pacific Rim. This led her to explore the subjects of mapping and place as starting points for a painting. Similar to the way maps navigate geographic destinations, she uses the pictorial language of line, gesture, color, and form to lead the viewer to ‘sites’ that are familiar and unknown, personal and universal.

Working in the mediums of printmaking, drawing, painting, and collage, Shanti Conlan creates images that capture both the physical and intangible forces of the natural world. Her work is a visual interpretation of these forces, from geological formations and oceanic currents, to the movement and interaction of celestial bodies. The work shifts in focus from the macro to the micro, examining the multiple worlds within worlds.
