LONG POST AHEAD (but please take a sec and read it!)
.
This is a bit of a ten-year challenge of sorts. This first photo was from when I was ten years old, taken with a little point and shoot I had received for Christmas. Despite the blurriness and a general lack of anything resembling good composition, I remember being so proud of this photo.
The second one is from my recent adventure into the world of film photography, which I've seen as a huge milestone in my journey as an artist.
I was shooting with my sister (who was the silhouette in the first photo), and remembered that photo I had taken all those years ago. I took this as a nod to the former, a testimony to how far I've come in a field that I never thought I would actually be good at.

Smiles like these are how we know we served well: we stayed invisible so our clients could stay present.

It starts at the very beginning: listening well on the discovery call and asking the right questions. Delivering a proposal that details exactly what you asked for. Keeping communication clear and concise so your time isn't spent doing our job for us. Planning for contingency and remaining in contact with your coordinator so no one is wondering when we'll show up. Being kind and professional towards your other vendors. Constructing our work so it lasts in the sun, in the cold, in the hands of your loved ones.

You are the cast. Our creations are the set. We're the crew behind the scenes. A smiling wedding party, surrounded by whimsical floral bouquets at a venue near Columbia, TN. by @elliotnemeth

Taking a little time during the new year to reflect (and get a post out after a wee 9 month hiatus oops)

To some, looking at my life this past year might bring the term “quarter-life crisis” to mind.
But I think of it as a renaissance.
A rebirth.
The beginning of a second life that only comes from the realization that I only have one.

What started as a small spark of wonder has led me
to push myself farther than I ever thought possible,
to dare to let myself be inspired (even when I knew it’d cost me something),
to become enraptured by the light of heaven in ways I’d never before imagined.

I don’t know what this new chapter holds.
But that won’t keep me from charging
headlong into it
because I know who’s really telling the story.

And although I know that I will spend the rest of my earthly life learning to trust Him fully,
seeing the story arc of this past year has caused me to trust Him all the more.

Wherever this next year takes you, friend, know that it will be as grand of an adventure as you let it be.

“It’s a dangerous business, going out your door.
You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Dear March,
What a year you’ve been.

I meant to post this in the 31st, but took a couple more days because I kept failing to find words to properly express my gratitude for all of the blessings of this past month, the volume of which has left my heart in a state of such fullness that I fear some of the buttons might burst. (That’s my frail attempt at a C.S. Lewis impression)

Just like the trees that have gone from barren to lush green in what seems like an overnight metamorphosis, I find myself looking back and seeing that same surfacing of life in my own;

Months of training revealing visible results.
Motivation transforming into real discipline.
The powerful work of the Spirit on my heart, fanning into flame the love I had for Him at first.

And as if all that wasn’t enough, I got to witness God’s faithfulness poured out in excess on one of my best friends.

Only a quarter of the way into 2025, I can’t begin to fathom what He has planned for the rest. All that I know is that He is so, so good.

First of many shots from the new Fuji, got these last weekend. Such a cool opportunity to help facilitate my little bro’s first shooting experience, he was apprehensive at first but after his first shot he immediately thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄♥️

Took this during New Year’s in Dallas last year. Hard to believe everything that’s happened since then, but I’m beyond grateful for all of it, and for the ways my Heavenly Father has walked right beside me and shown me just how good he is.
And for all of you who’ve stuck around through all of it :)
May we embrace the new year with hopeful expectation of new adventures!

A personal note about the sculpture: As a memorial celebrating the life of an individual, I feel it important to share the thought process for how it directly correlates to the individual. This especially since it isn’t a representational likeness.

When asked if I was interested in submitting a design, I was a little hesitant. Only since a memorial sculpture is something I had never done before now. I thought about the location and purpose for a memorial. How they can often offer feelings of comfort and connectedness. I didn’t know Mike personally, but can definitely relate to the feelings of loss, need for connection and desire to keep memories alive. I am reminded daily of my late mentor as I walk past one of his sculptures on the way to my studio. Some days it makes me sad. The majority of days it puts a big smile on my face. In a way his sculpture is like a conduit for me to still feel connected to him. This was the direction I wanted to go with the memorial. It was my hope to have the family and community share a similar feeling of comfort and connectedness.

I began by thinking about monoliths, portals and gateways as physical conduits. After reaching out for more information about his characteristics, I learned that he was very outgoing and creative. He designed jewelry, loved abstract painting, played the keyboard and guitar. I decided to include all of those elements into the design and make it into more of an abstract portrait of him. The text on the plaque details how these elements were incorporated.

The positioning of the sculpture with the sun and the dentist office was purposeful. However, I had no idea that the first color cast at sun rise would fall right outside Mike and his son Kris @thatsthetooth personal office door. It starts there and moves back to the base of the sculpture each day—as if it were meant to be.

To have seen so many people emotionally excited about the sculpture and hear such kind words about its connection to them and Mike has truly been a great experience. 🙏
