“I got a future so I’m singing for my grandma
You singing too, but your grandma ain’t my grandma” is a line from the song Sunday Candy. A line that has rang true for me since I first heard. For as long as I can remember, Sundays were for Grandma and Grandpa. As a kid growing up, no matter what I was doing on Saturday my mom picked me up and we went to Talent to see Grandma and Grandpa on Sunday. Regardless. They were a constant in my life. A rock that never moved, never changed it shape, just got older and more weathered with more great stories to tell. After Grandpa passed, and I had moved to Florida… Sunday’s were for Grandma. Over the years, I called her number (which I still know by memory) more times than I could ever count - and one thing was always true… she would answer “Oh hi hon!” As if she was surprised to hear from me and excited to talk even if I had just spoke to her the night before. Long drives, life obstacles, big achievements, health battles, a new menu item at Taco Bell or my favorite new food - I would tell her everything. Grandma would always answer and was always my biggest cheerleader since day one. She taught me more than she even knows; she taught me how to “warsh” my clothes, grow plants, play dominoes, do math, make iced tea, and sometimes it’s important to stop and just watch the hummingbirds. But the most important thing she taught me was how to love unconditionally, without ever sitting me down to a single lesson, she just showed me. My grandma had a hard life, and I have a feeling what we know of it probably only scratches the surface. But she never let that change the way she loved us grandkids, we were everything. Her pride and joy. She was the definition of a Matriach. She truly held this family together from her throne in Talent, Oregon and as of the evening of May 27th, 2026, that throne sits empty. In her final act, she waited for all of her children and grandchildren to arrive and/or say goodbye on FaceTime before she gently departed this world in the presence of loved ones in the her family home the night before my birthday. She lived a truly incredible life, and until her last breath put her family first…. Contd… by @elliottinfocus

4 months of sacrifice. After fighting Pancreatitis in January, spending 17 days in the hospital on a feeding tube and then 45 days of an extremely restrictive diet (liquids only). I’m back to clean eating, protein, whole foods, and haven’t had any alcohol in four months. I’ve lost over 20lbs and still going.

This is my life now, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Sometimes you can’t see the light on your darkest days, but just know it’s coming. by @elliottinfocus

After 20 days on the road, I’ve had an experience that is hard to put into words…. Personally, professionally and more…

I started off November at the CBI Food Show in Orlando and had a great time seeing familiar customers and meeting the always outstanding @cheneybrothers staff. I left the following day for Hondo, TX to attend the @openfiremeatup and join the absolute best group of passionate pitmasters on the planet, to represent Team Canada led by none other than @darksideofthegrill. We placed in the Top 5 of 20+ countries and truly built a team that is forged in fire. We returned to Florida with @darksideofthegrill and @iamthemind to showcase @toddscurrysauce at the @floridarestaurantshow and then host an incredible event back in St. Pete with @centralcigars, @lfdcigars, @demkotaranch and @angelsenvy. We culminated this trip with a visit to a private island where we had a night of friendship and lifelong memories around a primitive fire table. There were so many experiences in between that changed my life forever, and you all know you are - thank you.

Immediately after Helene visited us, her cousin Milton had to see what Florida was all about. We survived. One of the most memorable experiences of my life for the good, bad and ugly reasons. For those that weren’t here, you’ll never understand but I’ll tell you about it over a beer when you visit. 🤙.
