Working with an incredibly cerebral 2 year old in the arena of her emotions is one of the most life giving and contemplative processes I think I've ever embarked on. I've learned an absurd amount about how I look at the world, how I care for people, and how I care for myself, all from her... But not in the weird, self centered way that the world encourages...

I mean.. in like a "I realize now how I add value to others lives and I want to keep doing that the best I can, so I take care of myself" kinda way... haha!

I picked up some old hobbies and started designing stuff again... but just because I want to, not because someone is contracting me. PS - Accepting any and ALL Smash Bros Melee challengers and I will beat you with your favorite character if you want :)

Disney has been a very very special place for Hannah and I — we honeymooned there and this weekend we took Reign to visit “Big Mic” (I guess they’re close like that lol). I don’t typically talk like this, but we worked really really hard and struggled to make this trip happen but watching Reign experience the park for the first time (hopefully of many many more) made me cry (but real G’s cry too)

The hardest question to answer for me lately has been “what do you do?” For years I’ve never been able to answer it with an “oomph” behind it… always a blanket statement — “a pastor” or “a creative”… lately “I do freelance / contract work” has been the phraseology. None of it feels “correct”.

Can I tell you something I’m learning … maybe it will encourage you — ABSOLUTELY NO ONE is going down the path you are.. it’s quite possible that no one has ever done anything like what you are doing. Watch this —

I’m an esports enthusiast and pastor with a stunning wife and child who loves making gaming content, and I travel the world at the drop of a hat to help my cousin grow his business, all while selling vintage clothing and doing freelance web and creative design..

None of it “fits”. But it fits me.

I’ll leave you with this brilliant excerpt from Viktor E Frankl from his book “Man’s Search for Meaning” —

“Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life; everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated. Thus, everyone’s task is unique as is his specific opportunity to implement it”

Sunday’s pastoral ordination service was insane. What a move of God.

Thanks everyone who has supported me on this ministry journey. I’ve learned so much over these 10+ years and I’m honored to continue to grow and be used by God.

Paralyzed by perfection this morning? Read this.

I literally stopped playing guitar because I got overwhelmed with what “the best approach is”. Number system, triads, circle of 5ths… BLAH BLAH BLAH. Recently I went to Reddit, as I often do, and came across this Reddit thread. Dude might as well had smacked me with my guitar himself. What he said is true on so many levels.

I realized I don’t care about theory… I cared about what people thought about me, which led to “learning theory.” But “nobody listens to theory”… they listen to music!

My daughter reminded me this morning that the joy in our hearts was put there by Jesus.

The enemy will show up anywhere and everywhere. He specializes in stealing and he’s the father of lies. he’ll take anything including your joy and convince you that “you’re just trying to be excellent.” Excellence is DEFINITELY the goal but it’s not a fruit of the Spirit :) Don’t let it become an idol.

One of my favorite quotes about golf that parallels with real life.
