What is painting if not a document of progression? Forward doesn’t always mean more; these works have been scraped back, covered over, their origins completely obfuscated. Of late, I’ve been working on human-sized formats (roughly 180cm x 80cm) [segments of the first 3 images are these] and the prevailing sensation has been that these are graves, voids into which the human spirit falls or spills out of. Or something like it - words can’t do the work of paint. by @elliottnimmo
