The updated business hours going forward will be:

💡 PRO CARE TIP: CALCIUM & ALKALINITY — KEEP THEM IN BALANCE

Healthy coral growth isn’t about chasing one “perfect” number. Consistency and replacing what your reef actually consumes are what matter.

🪸 CALCIUM
Stony corals, coralline algae and other calcifying organisms use calcium to build their calcium-carbonate structures.

🧪 ALKALINITY
Provides bicarbonate/carbonate used during calcification and helps resist rapid changes in pH.

📈 YOUR REEF’S DEMAND CHANGES
As small frags become large colonies, calcium and alkalinity consumption can increase. The dosing amount that works today may not be enough months from now.

✅ TEST • TRACK • ADJUST
Test consistently, record your results and determine how much your aquarium is actually consuming. Then replace approximately what your reef uses and continue monitoring as it grows.

⚠️ DON’T CORRECT BIG SWINGS TOO QUICKLY
Especially with alkalinity, avoid large sudden corrections. Make controlled, gradual adjustments and give the system time to stabilize.

🚫 MORE ISN’T BETTER
Excessively high calcium or alkalinity doesn’t automatically mean faster coral growth and can contribute to calcium-carbonate precipitation.

🟣 DON’T FORGET MAGNESIUM
Magnesium plays an important role in seawater chemistry and helps reduce unwanted calcium-carbonate precipitation.

📊 GENERAL REEF REFERENCE RANGES:
• Alkalinity: 7.5–11 dKH
• Calcium: 400–450 ppm
• Magnesium: 1300–1400 ppm

⭐ STABILITY WITHIN THE RANGE > CHASING ONE “PERFECT” NUMBER.

TEST IT • TRACK IT • REPLACE WHAT YOUR REEF USES.

💜 DID YOU KNOW? CORALLINE ALGAE IS A GOOD SIGN!

Those pink and purple patches spreading across your rockwork are usually something to be happy about! Coralline algae is a calcifying red algae that commonly becomes established as a reef aquarium matures.

🪨 IT’S ALGAE — NOT CORAL
Coralline deposits calcium carbonate into its structure, creating the hard, crusty growth you see covering rock, pumps, overflows and sometimes even your glass.

✅ WHY IS IT A GOOD SIGN?
Growing coralline generally means your aquarium has conditions capable of supporting calcifying organisms—such as stable salinity, appropriate calcium and alkalinity availability, suitable lighting and established biology.

But remember: coralline doesn’t mean your water is perfect!

🌱 IT CAN OCCUPY HARD SURFACES
As coralline spreads, it occupies areas where other algae might otherwise establish. However, having lots of coralline doesn’t guarantee you won’t have nuisance algae.

🎨 IT ISN’T ALWAYS PURPLE!
Depending on the species, coralline can appear in shades of pink, purple, red and other colors.

🚫 DON’T CHASE CORALLINE GROWTH
You don’t need to start adding supplements just because you want purple rocks. Maintain stable parameters, appropriate lighting and give your reef time to mature.

🧪 TEST BEFORE YOU DOSE!
Coralline consumes calcium and alkalinity as it grows. Supplementation should be based on your aquarium’s measured consumption, not simply an attempt to make coralline grow faster.

⭐ CORALLINE DOESN’T MAKE A REEF HEALTHY — A HEALTHY, STABLE REEF HELPS CORALLINE GROW.

💡 PRO CARE TIP: SUCCESSFULLY FEEDING FILTER FEEDERS

Filter feeders don’t all eat the same thing—and simply adding more food doesn’t mean they’re getting more nutrition.

🔬 PARTICLE SIZE MATTERS
Different filter feeders capture different-sized foods. Phytoplankton, fine suspended foods and zooplankton aren’t interchangeable. Match the food to the animal you’re feeding.

🌊 FLOW DELIVERS DINNER
Food needs to stay suspended long enough to reach the animal. Gentle, turbulent flow can help distribute food throughout the reef, while a strong direct blast may simply push it past—or irritate delicate feeders.

🎯 BROADCAST OR TARGET FEED?
Broadcast feeding can reach organisms throughout the aquarium, while target feeding gives you more control and can reduce waste. When target feeding, gently deliver food nearby—don’t blast delicate crowns or polyps.

⚠️ MORE FOOD ≠ BETTER FEEDING
Uneaten food eventually becomes nutrients. Excessive feeding can contribute to rising nitrate and phosphate, algae growth and detritus accumulation.

🪱 KNOW WHAT YOU’RE FEEDING!
Feather dusters, sponges, non-photosynthetic corals and other filter feeders can have very different nutritional requirements. There’s no single feeding method that works for everything.

💡 WATCH THE ANIMAL, NOT JUST THE FOOD.
Is it extending normally? Is food actually reaching it? Are nutrients increasing? Adjust your feeding based on what you observe.

🪱 DID YOU KNOW? FEATHER DUSTERS CAN REGROW THEIR CROWN!

If your feather duster suddenly loses its beautiful crown, don’t assume the worm is dead! The worm may still be alive and safely tucked deep inside its tube.

🌈 WHAT IS THE CROWN?
Those feather-like structures are called radioles. They help the worm capture tiny suspended food particles and also play a role in gas exchange.

⚠️ WHY WOULD IT LOSE ITS CROWN?
A feather duster may shed or lose its crown because of stress, unstable water conditions, physical damage, inadequate nutrition, or a fish/invertebrate picking at it.

🌱 CAN IT GROW BACK?
Yes! If the worm is still alive and conditions are suitable, it can regenerate a new crown. The new crown may initially be smaller and continue developing over time.

✅ ONE CROWN LOSS:
It can happen after a stressful event and isn’t automatically a sign that the worm is dying.

🚨 REPEATED CROWN LOSS:
If it keeps happening, investigate the cause. Check water stability, food availability, tankmates, placement and the overall condition of the worm.

💡 PRO TIP: Don’t pull out or discard the tube simply because the crown disappears. Give the feather duster time and avoid unnecessarily disturbing it while you watch for signs of regrowth.

⭐ CROWN GONE ≠ WORM GONE!
Give it time, check the cause and watch for regrowth.
