Oh Bailey,

My childhood dog, my best friend, my protector, my sweet sweet girl. If you knew me, you knew her. Who’s going to greet me at the door when I come in? Who’s going to stare out of my bedroom window? Who’s going to fill your spot next to the couch?

Losing you is like losing a part of me. Since I was 6 years old, you’ve stood by my side to watch me grow up. I don’t know how to start over again without you being there to comfort me when I’m sad, or get playful when I’m happy. There was never a me without you, and now, my worst fear coming true, there has to be.

I hope that in doggy heaven there’s thousands of deer to chase in circles, juicy steaks with endless pup cups for dessert, and so many pools to leap freely into. I wish I was there with you to give your nose one last kiss and your soft ears one last pet. Go keep everyone company up there. Thank you, Bailey, for the best 12 years of my life. I wish you could live forever.
