The Rivers and Us exhibition

Is part of the Ousewem project looking at education on flood prevention both upstream and downstream.

The Rivers trail is part of a walking and wheeling trail along the river ouse bringing together art, storytelling and digital experience to explore how Rivers shape York and how upstream effects downstream.

A series of exhibitions i helped curate and install as part of the Arts Team at York and Scarborough hospital are running across the summer including at Homestead Park, Rowntrees Park and NHS sites such as Foss Park and York Hospital.

Huge thanks to @yshospcharity who support the arts around our hospitals

So pleased to have helped create the art for the wellbeing rooms for staff across Bridlington, Scarborough and York Hospitals. Using a photograph i took at @yorkshirewildlifetrust_ Strensall Moorlands as a large vinyl wall in each room as well as the incredible photograph John Shepherds RHS gold winning awards botanical photographs he kindly donated for our arts in hospitals.

Thanks to @yshospcharity for supporting the funding and Occupational Health for making this happen.
Also thanks to @harrisonssigns for helping me get the dimensions correct and fitting them all so brilliantly 👌 by @ellyross7

As part of the Creativity and Wellbeing week the Arts Team asked patients, visitors & staff to help paint and create the Watcher Sculpture as part of Make it York Sculpture Trail an event in collaboration with York Minster.

"We should have painting here every week" - staff

"I feel I could do this all day" (Painting) Visitor

"I'm painting a star for my husband - we were married 63 years. He really was a wonderful person. It's sad talking about him as I miss him, but it's a wonderful opportunity to remember and share some memories." Patient

This sculpture will hopefully go on display in York Hospitals gardens after the trail finishes.

Sara a bank nurse approached @yshospcharity with a vision to create a more welcoming feel to our clinical areas in a&e paediatrics for children of all ages. Sara took up a course of boxing to help raise the funds. Working with the Arts team @emmagarness helped redesign the areas with nature and a sense of place - inspired murals that bring light, warmth and interest to what was once a blank wall.
Sara says “I am completely overwhelmed by the outcome. The artwork looks fantastic and I love the little tribute to how the money was raised; it’s such a thoughtful touch.
The brightness and creativity of the pieces will make such a difference to the children and families spending time in the department. It has genuinely transformed the space, and I’m proud to have been able to support something that will have such a positive impact on.”

Thanks to staff members Sara, Hannah and her team @emmagarness, the hospital arts team and @yshospcharity for all the hard work in making positive changes to spaces by @ellyross7
