I’m constantly stuck between bursting at the seams with pride & joy or bursting into tears from heartbreak…

I once read that Motherhood is feeling at least two opposing feelings at once, all the time. A conundrum so to speak. A truth a felt deep. It’s happiness at seeing your baby growing healthy and well - sadness that they are every day inching closer to growing up. Joy in feeling their need for you - pride/sadness when they no longer do.
•
No one told me that being a mother was both the greatest joy I’d ever experience, while also being a painful heartbreak- at the same time.
•
It seems like yesterday, but 18 years ago this boy surprised us 5 weeks earlier than expected. It was love at first sight - one I never knew existed. And my heart has been walking outside my chest ever since then. Raising him has been the joy of my and his father’s life. I could never fully put into words the sense of pride I have being his mother or of the young man he’s becoming. To know him is to love him. From his tender, ginormous heart to his work ethic and ambitions- he’s truly special.

Lord, thank you for the blessing of this child and the life you’ve given us. I’m eternally grateful. Continue to love and lead me - as a mother, Brad and I - as parents, and Braden in all ways fit to your will as we navigate this next chapter - Adulthood. 🙏🏼
