One very big summer, wrapped. 🍸

Two new hotels, three new restaurants, hundreds of check-ins, a few too many cocktails and more sea-view photos than anyone could count.

We made waves in Newquay, slowed things down in the New Forest and went five-star in Bournemouth. Somewhere along the way, South Beach earned an AA Rosette and 100K of you joined us for the ride.

Quite the summer, really. ☀️

🍳Eggs all day, coastal charm, and a hint of the American diner. @elmscafeandbar sits within THE NICI New Forest, a Hamptons-inspired hotel on the water in Lymington.🌊

When we started the branding project, the café was still unnamed. We proposed a range of options, and the chosen one came from the building itself: the earliest recorded owners, back in 1827, knew it as ‘The Elms’.

The menu and theme of the hotel influenced some American diner vibes, kept light and modern to sit alongside the hotel’s sleek new interiors.

The retro curves of the ‘E’ and subtle serifs are a blend of diner-inspired typography with a classic heritage edge. The nautical palette takes its cue from Elms’ riverside location and the soft tones of the Hamptons, with a touch of gold for a premium finish. Supporting checkerboard patterns nod to the diner again, adding a playful note across the materials.

The final identity brings together the history of the building, the coastal surroundings and the character of the café itself.
