Check out my interview featured on @djmagofficial . We talked about operation metro surge and the deep impact it had on our community. This one hit close to home on many different levels. As a Minneapolis resident at the time and, first generation Mexican American, it was near impossible to navigate these times without being on edge. As a brown person the constant anxiety and fear was persistent. If you or a loved one stepped outside of home, the probabilities of being harassed/detained or abducted by ICE agents were high. It’s wild to think back on how the safest scenario for BIPOC at the time was to stay home. Grateful for the people who stayed outside, stepped up, and helped. In 2017 she co-founded the now NYC staple event series Kindergarten , and later launched Kindergarten records. With a focus on cosmic club workouts and off-kilter rhythmic structures, Kindergarten Records quickly established itself as a home for hard-to-define, dancefloor-ready music. In 2022 the record label won “Best Breakthrough Label” at the DJ Mag North America Awards. As DJ Mag noted, the label “has become an essential outpost for hard-to-define, easy-to-dance-to club music”. Alongside running the label, Ma Sha holds down a residency at The Lot Radio and continues to develop her solo productions. Her releases include EPs on Steel City Dance Discs and Nervous Horizon, as well as appearances on Nerve Collect, Rhythm Section International, CEE, and her own Kindergarten Records. ————————— {special guest} - VIIAAN ——————————— Hailing from Mexico City and now based in Berlin, Viiaan is a producer, DJ, and curator working across experimental electronic and club music. FRIDAY 3/14 - CONEXIONES - DJ HYPERACTIVE, EL NIÑO INDIGO Chicago-born DJ and producer Joseph Manumaleuna, aka DJ Hyperactive, is a key figure in techno’s evolution. Recognized as one of Daft Punk’s “Teachers” and and described by Resident Advisor as a “brother of the humble,” his influence spans generations and continents. He emerged from Chicago’s underground in the early ’90s, gaining international acclaim. Over three decades, he has played legendary venues like Tresor, Berghain, while maintaining deep ties to his hometown through performances at institutions such as Smartbar and Shelter. With over 100 releases on top labels like Droid, Figure, and Plus 8, he remains a driving force in underground techno, blending experience with innovation. El Niño Indigo, weaves a mesmerizing tale through the realms of experimental music and art. His sound immerses into a sonic odyssey , where acid electro’s slithering depths seamlessly morph into heady house, trip hop, and broken beats, exhibiting a technical finesse that transcends genres. In 2017, he transplanted his creative nucleus to Minneapolis, birthing ACME Collective and PARADOX. These platforms, echoing inclusivity, carve spaces where music and art intertwine. His influence resonates globally, gracing prestigious platforms, and clubs, like The Lot Radio (NYC), NTS (London), Inverted Audio (London) , Noods Radio (Bristol), HKCR (Hong Kong), Public Records (NYC), Bossa Nova Civic Club (NYC), Smartbar (Chicago).
