Opening Reception Saturday, July 25th, 6:30 - 9:30 pm | “We Breathe the Same Air” brings together artists working across painting, film, sculpture, and installation to consider some invisible forces that move between people, places, and images. Beginning with Los Angeles’ intertwined histories of mysticism, experimental cinema, and artistic exchange, the exhibition follows atmosphere as a medium of transmission, carrying influence, memory, desire, and belief across generations. The exhibition includes works by Kenneth Anger @kennethangerofficial Catherine Corman @catherinecorman Emma Gray @emmagrayhq Jon Pylypchuk @rudybust Rebekah Rubalcava @rebekahrubalcava Saul Appelbaum @thepioneers.la in collaboration with Artists Artists @artists_artists_ Danita Nuchsawat Appelbaum @danita_1331 Santiago Evans Canales @santiago_evanscanales Oceana Celeste @oceanaceleste Elodie Goldberg Jacquemain @elogoldberg Hyungi Park @park_hyun_gi of Goyo @goyo__space Natalia Reyes @nataliareyesg and writing by Susan Aberth @aberthsusan a small constellation where collective dreaming converges. Today marks one year 🥹 I moved last year on July 23, and this has been my most amazing year so far… I am filled with joy, community and perspectives. Thank you to anyone who is making this life so special. The ones I get to see often, as much as the ones who live far away. I am so lucky missing you guys means to see you only months apart. It’s such a blessing to have multiple places that feel like home. And LA, they could never make me hate you ❤️ by @elogoldberg
In this conversation, Elodie Goldberg Jacquemain @elogoldberg interviews curator Christina Frank about “Obsessed: Fashion and Nostalgia in the ‘90s”, the exhibition at the ASU FIDM Museum @fidmmuseum Their discussion considers nostalgia not as a retreat into the past, but as a creative force shaping contemporary culture. Through fashion, memory, and desire, the exhibition reveals how images of the past continue to shape the present. Produced by The Pioneers Co-Op, the interview is accompanied by original croquis drawings by Danita Nuchsawat Appelbaum @danita_1331 alongside pull quotes from her and Clinton Hughes @tint_hues who styles Elodie in garments from his label, The Oddinary Studios @oddinary.studios The story also features the dream poetry of Adam Katz and a series of original poster designs by Elodie, bringing together graphic design, fashion, illustration, and poetry into a visual and literary conversation that echoes the exhibition’s exploration of memory, identity, nostalgia, and cultural recurrence. Special thanks to Dennita Sewell @dennita_sewell and Kim Askew Kramer for their support of this project. Lately I’ve found myself thinking about human and computer interactions. As more of our communication, research, and creative work moves through digital systems, I keep returning to the fact that there is still someone on the other side making decisions. Production remains interesting to me because a set, studio, or exhibition becomes a temporary structure where ideas are tested collectively in person, short-circuiting the intermediary. It’s more joyful being together like that. This montage is part of an ongoing experiment through The Pioneers Co-Op. The process begins by loosening control, allowing different images, voices, and sensibilities to occupy the same space before tightening them into a composition. Adam Katz’s dream poetry, developed in our long-running collaboration at Vera Maurina Press (VMP), became an important thread in this project. Alongside “Obsessed: Fashion and Nostalgia in the ‘90s” at the ASU FIDM Museum @fidmmuseum, I began thinking about nostalgia as a shared dream. Fragments of Adam’s dream imagery appear throughout the project, from the chapbook, a work in progress, the text and clear imagery to be more fully revealed as we go, to the micro-film and the visual language drawn from the VMP archive. The micro-film acts as a teaser for a full interview with the curator Christina Frank and editorial art on @curatorguide . We collaborated with Adam; Clinton Hughes @tint_hues of The Oddinary Studios @oddinary.studios, who styled the micro-film; Danita Nuchsawat Appelbaum @danita_1331, who created croquis and fashion illustrations for the chapbook; and Elodie Goldberg Jacquemain @elogoldberg, who shaped the design and visual structure through her creative coding background, and appears onscreen. The result is a mash-up of styles, references, images, dreams, and authorships attempting to give visual form to that feeling. Special thanks to Dennita Sewell @dennita_sewell and Kim Askew Kramer for their support of this project. by @elogoldberg
Cultivating creative practice through arts education - four stakeholders discuss its potential and generative power in a three-act conversation with Saul Appelbaum @thepioneers.la. Appelbaum produced, moderated and documented a collaborative Curator @curatorguide project discussion with Alena Marchak, Director of Research at Marian Goodman Gallery Education @mariangoodmangallery; Andrew Bencsko @mr.bencsko, Teacher at the High School for Art & Design @artanddesignnyc; and Nato Thompson @natothompson, Founder of The Alternative Art School @thealternativeartschool, to explore how arts education shapes lives and builds community. Dan Golden Studio’s @dangoldenstudio designs for the series act as visual meditations on learning, each one reflecting the drive to see, absorb, discover, and create, the layout in collaboration with Elodie Goldberg Jacquemain @elogoldberg Act Three: Ending-Never June 2026 In Act Three, arts education is presented as an ongoing process of transmission and renewal. Through programs at the High School of Art & Design, workshops with Marian Goodman Gallery, and the online The Alternative Art School, students gain access to creative communities, professional pathways, and new ways of understanding their place within contemporary culture. At the same time, educators, artists, and organizers find their belief in the transformative power of art continually reaffirmed. Rather than concluding with a finished outcome, “Ending-Never” suggests that artistic learning endures through mentorship, exchange, and the relationships that continue to shape creative life long after the classroom ends. Sascha Behrendt writes for Curator about a selection of contemporary art spaces in Athens, Greece, many of whom emerged after recent economic, cultural and sociological upheavals. These spaces are led by a new generation of talented and highly educated curators, artists, and dealers, who despite challenges, are creating opportunities for art that is experimental, local, courageous and often socio-political. The typical perception of Athens is of a historical city tied to its past and tourism. These individuals with their spaces are re-defining through art, a different kind of Athens, one closer to the truth of its present, and a wider, wilder version of its future. “It was a joy to discover vibrant creativity and intellectual discourse within this socially aware and resistant city. Where diverse models to see, share, and discuss art exist. Here, artist self-presentation is not yet cynical, and away from the markets, possibilities feel fluid yet real.” @sascha.behrendt Slide 1: Cover design @elogoldberg @thepioneers.la Slide 2 & 3: Onassis AiR Open Day,, 2025. © photo Stephie Grape for Onassis Stegi @onassis.stegi Slide 4: Susanne Kriemann, Pechblende (canopy, canopy), library for radioactive afterlife (rhizome cycle) mixed media, installation view TAVROS, 2024 . It’s a new season for Bangkok as it establishes itself as a hub for contemporary art. The Bangkok Kunsthalle @bangkok_kunsthalle and Khao Yai Art Forest @khaoyai_art_forest are presenting contemporary works that seek to renew our relationship with nature, through learning, curation, and participation, while probing the boundary between domestication and care. Camilla Boemio @camillaboemio spoke with curator Stefano Rabolli Pansera @stefano_rabolli_pansera about these ideas and more. | Layout Design by @elogoldberg by @elogoldberg
On the occasion of artist and chef Natalia Pereira’s @woodspoon solo exhibition “Engine Company 33” at Rusha & Co. @rusha_co, Dan Golden @dangoldenstudio sat down with her to discuss survival, memory, and the transformative power of paper and food. Photography from Pereira’s home and studio by @jameslholmes appears on slides 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 14, and 16. “I first met Natalia Pereira a few years ago when my long-time collaborator, Saul Appelbaum @thepioneers.la, invited me to meet him for lunch at Woodspoon, Pereira’s Michelin-Bib Gourmand Brazilian restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles. The warmth of the place—and of Pereira herself—made a lasting impression. I reconnected with Pereira to collaborate on her current exhibit at Rusha & Co. and this interview, meeting at ilcaffé @ilcaffe.la, a neighborhood creative hub just across the street from her studio. Stylishly dressed, she arrived carrying a box of fresh produce, ingredients for a private dinner she was hosting that evening. From there, we walked over to her studio to begin our conversation.” –Dan Golden Special thanks to Elodie Goldberg Jacquemain @elogoldberg and The Boy Who Cried Flowers @theboywhocriedflowers by @elogoldberg
