Our next senior spotlight is Merrie Byers. For her research, Merrie has been working on a documentary, titled Building a Bridge, which is about the friendship of two reverends united by faith. After graduating she will attend North Carolina State University to pursue a masters in higher education and university administration. Next up is Taylor Sluss! Taylor is conducting research on the well-being of female entrepreneurs, specifically looking at the intersectionality of well-being, ill-being, and various life factors of female entrepreneurs in Elon, NC. Following graduation, she plans on moving to Madrid, Spain. Taylor wanted to remind incoming first years to pick a research topic that you genuinely love. by @elonhonors

Today’s senior spotlight is Reilly Galloway! Reilly is conducting research on how embodied trauma impacts relationships and how that is depicted in dramatic film across the 21st century. He used his findings to direct a short film titled “Not Enough.” After graduating, he plans to move to Los Angeles in hopes of becoming a producer for an independent film and television company. He wanted to remind students that “it’s not a race to find your research topic; take the time to genuinely think about what you’re passionate about instead of thinking about what would look good to a research committee.” Congratulations Reilly! Evelyn Ealey is our next senior spotlight! Evelyn has been conducting research on the mental health impacts of black dancers at predominately white institutions. After graduating she will work as an Academic Publishing Intern at the Journal of Dance Education while continuing to audition for roles as a professional dancer and apply for full-time jobs. To incoming students, Evelyn reminds you that “it may seem scary now, but don’t underestimate yourself! Four years is a long time, and you’ll be surprised with how much you can grow and accomplish.” Good luck Evelyn! We are excited to see what your future holds. by @elonhonors

Next up is Emma Ciesla! Emma is researching the framing of generative AI’s impact on public relations. After graduating she plans on moving back to Raleigh and working there. Emma recommends that you pick a research topic you genuinely care about and break the project into tiny deadlines so that it never becomes a last-minute scramble. Great work Emma! It’s time for senior spotlights! First up we have Mira Fitch! Mira is conducting an analysis of factors that influence the likelihood of juvenile transfer to adult criminal court. After graduating she will attend Wake Forest University School of Law. Asheville 2026! This past weekend a group of our fellows spend the weekend in Asheville. We volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, explored downtown Asheville, and went on a gorgeous hike!
