During a September livestream at PSA, Al Jurgela and his son pulled a pair of Ronaldo rookie grails from a coveted box of 2002 Panini Mega Craques.

They returned days later holding their breath for a Gem Mint reveal. The first card netted a PSA 8.5. The second was soccer-cele cinema.

While his PSA Pedigree is noted for its world-class Negro League curation, Al’s soccer collection keeps pace—especially with arrivals like these. by @elrey_collection

Here is a name that most soccer/football fans will not know: Oldrich Nejedly… but they should.

He was the leading goal scorer of the 1934 World Cup and scored nearly a goal a game for Sparta Prague over a decade. He was voted the bronze ball for the third best player of the 1934 World Cup and earned a place on the WC All Star team.

He logged more than 200 goals for club and country en route to four league titles and a Mitropa Cup (which was the most important inter-league professional cup for decades - long before the European cup/champions League re-brand).

He does not have many cards, but this beauty hails from the Star/Furth set of the same year as his World Cup heroics. Current a pop 1 at PSA but there are other copies out in the wild.

If anyone has a line on a 1934 or 1938 World Cup final ticket/stub please let me know! by @elrey_collection

No F1 this weekend, but tons of action in F1 cards between Goldin and the 2026 Topps Chrome F1 release.

I don’t have a lot of Pads. But this one just called me. I have not been a Max fan most of my time as a racing fan, but last year he really won me over in his fight with Lando for the WDC.

I was thinking the other day that there are only 6 (soon to be 7) portrait pads out there and there will likely be less than 20 total (if he continues to race for another decade +) - and assuming that Topps keeps the license. Comparing this to reds which have 15-20 (or more in the future?) copies per year there will likely be hundreds of portrait reds over the course of his career. Pad portraits seem somewhat insulated on the supply side, for sure…

The combination of Pad from a crazy season, driver number, card number as defending champion and PSA 10 (not sure what grade the others are but likely not all PSA 10’s over time), made me feel good about welcoming this card into the elrey_collection. by @elrey_collection

Loustau was one of the best winger ever to hail from Argentina and scored more than 100 goals as well for “La Máquina”. He was a key driver in River winning the league 8 times and also added three Copa America wins.

Most of his cards are tough and hail from his native Argentina and are rarely are found in better than a PSA 2.

Here is one the 1945 Springer Campeonato in a PSA 3. The 1946 version is even slightly tougher. Both versions have no more than 5 copies graded by PSA of an player and most just have a couple. by @elrey_collection

A very unique and rare card of Argentine great Juan Manuel Fangio - the five time F1 champion who won with all the relevant teams of the day and started his F1 career at the age of 40 after many years of crazy races and domination in diverse Latin American races. He was a global superstar the world over and this very rare card hails from neighboring Brazil! by @elrey_collection

Cristóbal Torriente was a force of a man. He was one of the best batters of his generation, typically noted in the .350 range. He still hold the record for batting average in his native Cuba at .352 and posted a .402 at least once (recall that epic players like Charleston and Lloyd played in the league). He was also great fielder with a strong arm and played center field with grace.
He is generally considered one of the greatest Cuban players of all time (along side Jose Mendez and Martin DiHigo). I find him to be less “talked about “ though.

The great manager CI Taylor once said “"If I see Torriente walking up the other side of the street, I would say, 'There walks a ballclub.'"

Torriente was enshrined in Cooperstown in 2006.

He only has three cards from his playing days… this his Nacionales card (which is super hard to find centered and with a decent back, and his 1923 Billiken and his 1924 Aguilitas Segundas. All are very low pops. by @elrey_collection

Firpo was the first Latin American boxer to challenge for the world heavyweight championship and was immortalized in perhaps one of the most famous sport paintings of all time Dempsey and Firpo by George Bellows. In that fight which was Ring Magazine’s fight of the year Firpo knocked Dempsey out of the ring in the third round (after himself being floored seven times in the first round).

While he ultimately lost the fight to Dempsey he was a National hero for his entire life.

Presented here are three of his 1926 Plus Ultra cards… one of the best prewar sets ever issued anywhere in the world. These photographic cards are EPIC and truly beautiful.

Swipe right to see the other cards! by @elrey_collection
