💎 Earring Thinking: On the Road
📅 Thu, Nov. 19 • 12–2:30 PM
📍 @thejewelrylibrary | 4 W 29th St, NY
💫 In Person | Conversation & Workshop

In this talk and workshop at The Jewelry Library at Maison 10, Kate Connell (@elrings_earrings) will share her practice of making earrings as a form of travel journaling. Using examples from trips close to home and far away, she will show how found and purchased materials become wearable records of observation, encounter, and memory. Her project combines jewelry skills with curiosity, humor, and close attention to place. Examples of her work will be on display.

Contributors: Ada Chen (@potadachen) and Aida Sulova (@aidasulova).

Pomegranates and roses! Dried pomegranate flowers and rosebuds from the spice market. Their rich red colors made me think of all the reds I saw, starting with the Turkish flag.

Brimming with mint, the now purple blue earrings. I'm taking them on a trip, going to fill them with herbs I taste for the first time.

Titanium's hard!! But so light and strong, good for big earrings and airplanes.
Fine tuning (like rivets same sides showing) but almost there! I'll color it with the torch.
Then fill it with herbs or spices while traveling.

Thanks for tips on titanium whispering @junipertea
