Between presence and absence, a girl floats - a suspended instant, a gesture yet to be completed, on the threshold of the visible and the imagined.
Every curve, every tilt, every shadow, every gray tone articulates a field of attention: a presence that does not impose itself, but offers itself in the pause.
The effect is a contained dance between surreal and classical, timeless and poetic.
The texture, the filaments of movement, modulate perception, transforming the image into a territory of presence and living memory - a trace of motion, a temporal thread that never ceases.
Celebrating two centuries of Photography, with the pedagogical project @la_galerie_du_transfo_cambrai at @esac_cambrai, this work honors the medium’s ability to capture not only what is seen, but what is felt - the suspended instant, the gesture that almost completes itself, a linking space of form and imagination, where the ephemeral presence of renewal flows across time. Easter in Portugal is more than a celebration - it’s a living tradition.

In Braga, the Holy Week processions bring the streets to life with centuries-old rituals, quiet intensity, and powerful symbolism.

The „farricocos“, the candlelight, the silence...every detail carries a story that has been passed down through generations.

Some of my earliest memories live here. As a child, I watched these processions from my father’s shoulders - above the crowds, surrounded by light and shadow, feeling something I couldn’t yet explain.

Coming back now, it all feels both distant and incredibly close.

Through my lens, I try to hold on to those feelings - to the emotion, the atmosphere, and the sense of belonging that never really left.

For centuries, in Portugal, the “Bioco” moved through the streets like a quiet architecture of cloth: a dark mantle shaping the space between seeing and being seen, where a narrow opening allowed the gaze to exist while the rest remained suspended in shadow.

“The broad cloak, thrown with elegance over the head, made them impenetrable. Wrapped in black, they seemed ghosts… When they pass, they look at us and we do not see them… Yet the flame of the gaze, more alive within the veil, has another intensity.”

It was feared, criticized, eventually forbidden. Not because of the fabric itself, but because anonymity carries a particular kind of freedom.

History has often tried to regulate the visible body of women — deciding when it should be concealed and when it should be revealed. Two opposite gestures, often justified by the same argument: morality. Yet, in both directions, the result may mirror the same absence of freedom, delicately disguised as virtue.

Perhaps the question was never the veil, nor the absence of it. Perhaps it has always been something quieter, and infinitely more fragile: the freedom to choose how one inhabits in the light — or in the shadow. by @elsa.arrais

“And within that altered landscape, the trees became unavoidable. Not whole trees — those no longer exist in the way they once did — but fragments: trunks laid horizontally, roots exposed to a light they were never meant to meet.”
One month after Storm Kristin passed through Leiria, what remains is not only the visible damage but the subtle recalibration of streets, landscapes, and perception itself. A reflection on what lingers, on resilience, and on the quiet gestures of memory that survive even after the wind has passed.
