Maria Faustyna Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament, OLM was a Polish Catholic religious sister and mystic. Faustyna, popularly spelled Faustina in English, had apparitions of Jesus Christ which inspired the Catholic devotion to the Divine Mercy, therefore she is sometimes called the "secretary" of Divine Mercy. Good St. Francis, you loved all of God's creatures. To you they were your brothers and sisters. Help us to follow your example of treating every living thing with kindness. St. Francis, Patron Saint of animals, watch over my pet and keep my companion safe and healthy. Amen." by @elsaanna21

Saint Francis of Assisi (born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone) is one of the most venerated figures in Christianity. Renowned for his radical humility, devotion to poverty, and profound love for all creation, he founded the Franciscan Order (Order of Friars Minor), the Order of Saint Clare (Poor Clares), and the Third Order (Secular Franciscans).
Quick Facts
• Born: c. 1181/1182 in Assisi, Italy.
• Died: October 3, 1226 (celebrated as his Feast Day on October 4).
• Patronage: Patron saint of animals, ecology, merchants, and Italy.
• Key Legacy: He is famously credited with creating the first live Nativity scene (Greccio, 1223) and was the first recorded person to receive the stigmata (the wounds of Christ).
📜 Key Milestones of His Life
• The Privileged Youth: Born to a wealthy silk merchant, Francis spent his early years living lavishly. He dreamed of becoming a noble knight, but a year as a prisoner of war and a severe illness drastically shifted his perspective.
• The Radical Conversion: After his encounter with the San Damiano Crucifix, Francis renounced his inheritance. In a dramatic public trial before the Bishop of Assisi, he stripped off his fine garments, handed them back to his father, and declared that from then on, he recognized only "Our Father who art in heaven."
• Embracing Lady Poverty: Francis chose to live in absolute poverty, begging for food and preaching the Gospel in the streets. His joy and radical kindness quickly attracted a band of brothers, whom he called the Frati Minori ("Lesser Brothers").
• Preaching to Creation: Francis saw the entire cosmos as a mirror of the Creator. He famously preached sermons to flocks of birds, tamed the ferocious wolf of Gubbio through peaceful negotiation, and composed the Canticle of the Sun, praising God for "Brother Sun" and "Sister Moon." by @elsaanna21

I am a Catholic/Christian and I acknowledge and appreciate that Jesus was an observant Jew.
FYI- Yom Kippur 2026 begins at sundown on Sunday, September 20, and ends at nightfall on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Meaning of Yom Kippur
* Known as the Day of Atonement, it is the holiest and most solemn day in the Jewish calendar.
* It marks the final day of the Ten Days of Repentance that begin with Rosh Hashanah.
* The main focus is on repentance, self-reflection, and asking for forgiveness from God and others. by @elsaanna21
