Cat and Hannah Marie’s wedding was painted in pink. The pink hues shifted with the day…the afternoon forest light made for a dreamy soft pink tones for the ceremony, then bold and punchy tones under the moody reception lights. By the time the dance floor opened, it was full-on joyful chaos: nonstop dancing, an epic band, and the two of them screaming Pink Pony Club (one of their fav moments). I was dying to see the design for this wedding, and it turned out to be a maximalist dream. I even got some bonus time before the ceremony to photograph all the details and walk through everything with @nicolearenaparties, making sure her vision came to life in the images (will do a separate preview post to show more of those off later). As stunning as every detail was, none of it overshadowed the reason everyone was there. Katie and Zach intentionally kept posed photos to a minimum because they wanted to be fully present with the people they love. On a day that can easily feel like a production, it was such a joy to watch them truly be guests at their own wedding. They even carved out time before the ceremony to simply be together and take it all in. Because of that, I got to spend more time than usual roaming, observing, and documenting the day as it naturally unfolded. I’ll be sharing more (plus a few favorites from the welcome party). In the meantime, here are a few snaps from their preview. P.S. One of my favorite parts of the weekend was how genuinely kind everyone was. Katie and Zach, it makes perfect sense that you’ve surrounded yourselves with such wonderful people. “Katie is a fellow maximalist and we loved the idea of using the blues and greens of Lake Tahoe in her design. Tahoe holds a special place in her heart, she and Zack have a love of travel and the outdoors so we wanted to bring the outside in. We chose some botanical prints to mix on the tabletop with the patterned linen from Lola Valentina and the grren Ginori plates from Theoni. For the finishing touch we added these gem tonal glasses in shades of jade that really captured the sunlight that was streaming into the ballroom late into the day. Growing up, Mathias and Erin’s family homes were always an open door. New friends, old friends, and family would spend the weekend together out on the lake, laughing, playing games, and enjoying a drink or two. They wanted their wedding weekend to recreate that same easy, welcoming energy. And it truly was three amazing days of exactly that. I work really hard to make sure my digital images look exactly how I want them to feel. I’ll manipulate light, adjust my editing, and move people around if needed to get to what I envision in my head. Film is different for me. I offer it as a fun add-on, which is why the cost mostly just covers the film and development. And it’s meant to be not that serious. Just some b-roll shots that live alongside the most perfect gallery. P.S. Of course, if a couple is really passionate about film and wants it to be a major part of their wedding coverage, we’d adjust the creative team to make sure someone is always focused on just film. Izzy and Taylor met on the set of Top Chef. He asked about her, was shocked she was single, and the rest is history. Their day was chic, joyful, and full of creative energy. It started with champagne, a lakeside first look, amazing food and cocktails, a playful cake, late night burgers, and ended under disco balls as they danced to “I Came Here for Love,” a very on brand sendoff. Fun fact: Izzy is a talent producer and Taylor has worked on shows like Summer House. As a proud Giggly Squad fan, I did not ask about Paige Desorbo once, and that’s the self-control I didn’t know I had. Taylor flew back to Fiji right after the wedding to finish filming Love Island, which I have playing in the background, in honor, as I post these.
