You may have noticed that we have trimmed back on some of the events this year, this is mostly due to Martin having a full shoulder replacement last year and we didn't want to take on too much, too soon.

Recently, we'd been thinking about having a break from Elseafood because sooo much hard work goes into each event. Not only the long working hours during the event (usually 7/8am until 1/2am), there is so much work involved in the preparation, set up, and pack down/put away! And with all costs rising, it is getting harder to keep it viable. The industry is not for the faint-hearted.

We were concerned about the impact these long hours have on our beautiful girls who are growing up too quickly.

It turns out that when we mentioned the idea to the girls, they were absolutely gutted! It is more than a job. It is a lifestyle. A lifestyle that our girls have grown up with. They see us working hard and appreciate it when we are able to treat them to all the many treats a festival has to offer.

Most importantly, it wouldn't at all be possible without the amazing customers that we have. We have so much positive feedback about our food. And that literally makes our hearts fuzzy and warm 💕

This weekend, we had lots of returning customers from one day to the next, as well as customers who told us they waited all year (since the last Live At Scorrier House) for our salt and pepper squid or other gluten free menu options.

Richard Ashcroft's lyrics seem quite apt here, we are lucky and continue to be appreciative of everything that our Elseafood family has and for continuing to be married and run a business with each other after a roller coaster few years!

@great_estate_festival you were a blast. As ever, I have been too busy juggling work and family life that I didn't get around to post the original 'we are trading at' post (better late than never right?!) or take any photos at the event. However, our sister in law was about hanging out with our kids and they all had a blast.

This is the essence of this festival, fantastic fun for everyone involved, including the kids! This is one reason it's our favourite event. Another is that we get to trade alongside so many legends who make up the festival family and work with the hard working and upbeat team who make up @quickpandaproductions always a pleasure!

And on top of that we had soooo many returning customers chuffed to see us again, asking for their fix of salt and pepper squid or crab loaded fries etc!

We cant wait to be back in the same field for @liveatscorrierhouse on August bank holiday weekend.

Who's coming?! We are looking forward to our first event of the season, @rattler.fest

Great line up this year too! I can't wait to be 'Dancing in the Moonlight' with @toploaderofficial and to be 'Set (you) Free' to rave in the stall with @ntranceofficial

Our festive menu is ready! We got so excited when writing this dreaming up all things Christmassy!

We hope you're as excited as we are! We will be open tonight, tomorrow night and all day (wreath making at 2pm!) and night on Saturday.

Then we will be open every Thursday to Saturday and some Sundays every week until 21st December!

It's the @lovenewquay zombie crawl! We're fully involved here at @projecteightythree

I had to snap a photo of my make up quickly before it turned into a slushy mess by the end of the day today!

We've got a pumpkin carving workshop here at Project 83 until 2.30 before the zombie crawl starts at 3pm! And we've got a children's menu available!

There's food available from us and @themeltingpotkitchen and spooky ice creams from @pinkflamingocornwall

So it's always been a bit of a sore spot, particularly for Martin. To have named our business after her and have her point blank refuse to eat anything that has a hint of fish or seafood inside!

Hopefully this is the start of a new developed pallet where she is finally mature enough to realise, not all fish is the same and the same product can taste completely different depending on who has cooked it! Trust in Elseafood chefs Elsie! 🙏👌👊

This Fishcakes special is available on the menu this weekend.
