Vor einem Jahr haben wir erfahren, dass bei Chris die AML zurück ist und seine Stammzellentransplantation offiziell gescheitert ist. #aml steht für akute myelotische Leukämie - eine fehlerhafte Blutbildung führt zu unausgereiften Zellen, die sich innerhalb kürzester Zeit krankhaft vermehren.

Was ich mir sooo sehr wünsche heute am #amlawareness day:

❣️Dass sich Therapiemöglichkeiten für Leukämiepatienten weiter und schneller verbessern. Mehr aufgeklärt wird, mehr geforscht wird, Patienten, Familien und Freunden mehr Hilfe und Information angeboten werden kann. Weil alle 15 Minuten jemand in Deutschland die Diagnose Blutkrebs erhält. Der KMT Förderverein Hamburg @foerdervereinkmt zum Beispiel fängt diese Menschen auf und macht tolle ehrenamtliche Arbeit - wir freuen uns über Spenden.

❣️Dass sich Menschen mit AML und den Symptomen vertraut machen. Wirklich ehrlich in sich reinhören, Arzttermine nicht aufschieben, abklären, wenn etwas nicht stimmt. Nachtschweiß, Abgeschlagenheit, körperliche Schwäche, übelstes Zittern, wiederkehrende Infektionen sind nicht normal - wenn ihr merkt irgendwas stimmt nicht, lasst euer Blut checken. Lieber einmal zu viel als zu wenig.

❣️Dass alle, die gesund sind, #Blutspenden. Regelmäßig. Ohne Blutkonserven wäre Chris und Millionen andere Krebspatienten nicht mehr hier. Es ist soooo wichtig.

❣️Und Last but not least: registriert euch als Stammzellenspender/in bei der @dkms_de . Das geht schnell, tut nicht weh und rettet mit Glück eines Tages jemandem das Leben. taken in Hamburg, Germany by @elsebuff

So for three weeks now I am capturing my physical and mental mirror me in the elevator, going up the 6th floor to be with @chris_cancer_crushing_cruise in isolation. Usually not the #selfie type but I thought a little awareness therapy project on the go wouldn’t harm my confused me.

And I think it’s worth mentioning that I see #progress ☀️ While I couldn’t even be bothered to put my head in the picture on day 1, I was exhausted and stressed and edgy and weak by day 10 and it has it written all over my body. And yesterday, even though @chrisesposito790 is feeling pretty shitty now, I can see it. Progress. Looking tired, yet focused, intimidated yet resolute. Standing firmly and determined and ready and seem to see pretty clearly now that we have come so far and things will slowly start to get better, very soon, bit by bit ❤️ taken in UKE Klinik Eppendorf by @elsebuff
