Shoulder season used to be the clever workaround. Now it’s the trip.

This fall’s hotel openings stretch from Healdsburg and Sun Valley to Savannah, New Orleans and Riviera Maya—because October is no longer simply the quiet space between summer and the holidays.

That doesn’t make fall a bad idea. It makes it a timing strategy: book earlier, expect less automatic discounting, and choose the week as carefully as the hotel.

Singapore deserves more than the hours between flights.

Make time for Kampong Gelam’s shophouses, chicken rice at Maxwell, and Gardens by the Bay after dark. Then there’s Marina Bay Sands—where the pool makes a very convincing case for staying another night.
