🚨 PROPER MTL INTERVIEW SERIES: UKG 514 GUEST SPOTLIGHT 🚨

Montreal, get ready. On June 4th, the crew at UKG 514 is taking over Barbossa for a night of pure, unadulterated UK Garage energy. To get you primed for the dancefloor,
we sat down with one of the night’s heavy hitters: DJ ELROY.

Elroy’s roots run deep, tracking back to the late 90s and early 00s era of Garage and 2-Step. We’re talking the golden age of So Solid Crew, Double 99, MC Neat, and DJ Luck. But the real turning point? Getting gifted El-B’s legendary Roots of Dubstep record. Already deeply immersed in Jungle, DnB, and Grime, diving headfirst into UKG was a total no-brainer.

"What I like about the garage sound is the combination of house, hip-hop, and jungle sounds," Elroy tells us. "I always liked those elements combined—it really gets the dance floor going."

While Elroy is strictly a selector behind the decks for now (with production goals on the horizon!), his track selection bridges the gap between old-school heritage and the massive modern resurgence. Expect to hear sets influenced by the heaviest hitters of the current new wave—think Interplanetary Criminal, Soul Mass Transit System, Main
Phase, and Bakey.

If you love crisp hi-hats, swinging basslines, and that unmistakable UK rave energy, you cannot miss this. Barbossa is going to be a pressure cooker.

We have something CRAZY SPECIAL planned for Ottawa and lovers of Drum & Bass.

We’re honoured to have Nicky Blackmarket and his daughter Millz throwing down for us May 16th at Cassette Vinyl Lounge, with support from our affiliate family crew Hardsteppers and local Ottawa & MTL selectors.

We opted out of hosting this at a major club, because it’s not about the money — it’s about history.
Our shared history.

This is about the dance floor coming alive, old and new connections meeting, and intimate moments with the DJs.

Limited capacity.
Limited tickets.
Grab yours ASAP.

Doors at 9PM - 4AM
