My book “Things I Wish I Knew In My First Year Of Marriage. ❤ Coming soon 30th November by @elyon_ben
In my first year of marriage, any small misunderstanding, I don pack my kaya dey go oh! 😂 Nope! I had zero tolerance for conflict. Once there was a misunderstanding, I would carry my armpit travelling bag, throw it over my shoulder and announce, “Ai aurai ba dole ba ne!” 😂😭 I was so immature in my first year of marriage, and honestly, I won’t even lie, I still carried some of that behaviour into my third year. 😂 But one thing I’ve come to understand is that marriage is an experience you learn while on the job. You don’t just walk into marriage with all the knowledge and experience. You learn, unlearn, adjust and grow along the way. And have I learnt? Omo, I have! That’s exactly why I decided to put some of my lessons, personal experiences and real-life stories into my first book. Because honestly, if only I knew some of the things I know now, I probably wouldn’t have been packing my bags every Eke market day whenever my husband and I had a misunderstanding. 😂 My forthcoming book, THINGS I WISH I KNEW IN MY FIRST YEAR OF MARRIAGE, is coming on the 30th of November! Trust me, you want to have a copy. It carries real-life situations, funny moments, honest reflections and lessons I picked up along my marriage journey. I’m not writing as someone who has figured marriage out. I’m writing as a woman who is learning, growing and sharing what life has taught her. If you’re married, newly married, preparing for marriage or simply interested in understanding the realities of marriage, this book is for you. by @elyon_ben
This no be content oh 😂 this na true life story 😂 Me leaving and coming back to my marriage for the 100th time. 😂😭 Omo, marriage will humble you! Sometimes, it’s not even that you don’t love your spouse. You’re just overwhelmed, angry, frustrated or struggling to understand each other. Sometimes your emotions are doing press-ups, and you just want to pack your imaginary bags and disappear. 😂 I’ve had my own moments. I’ve made mistakes, had unrealistic expectations and handled some situations in ways I probably shouldn’t have. But with time, I’ve learnt that marriage is also about growing, unlearning and choosing healthier ways to handle disagreements. And guess what? Some of these experiences became the inspiration behind my first book. THINGS I WISH I KNEW IN MY FIRST YEAR OF MARRIAGE. My book launches on the 30th of November. by @elyon_ben
DAY 3/30 WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE? Me; My life! Yes, my life inspired me to write this book. The experiences, the lessons, the mistakes, the misunderstandings, the expectations, the adjustments and the many moments that come with being married. When I got married, I had my own ideas and expectations about what marriage would look like. But as time went on, I began to understand that marriage comes with a lot of learning, unlearning, patience and intentional effort. There were moments I didn’t understand my spouse, moments I expected him to read my mind, moments I struggled to communicate properly and moments I had to sit back and ask myself, “Elyon, is this really how you want to handle this?” 😂 I started reflecting on these experiences and realised that some of the things I was learning along the way were things I wished someone had told me earlier. I didn’t write this book because I’ve figured marriage out. Far from it! I’m still learning, growing and discovering new things about marriage. I wrote it because I believe our experiences can become lessons for someone else. And that is how My book 📕 “THINGS I WISH I KNEW IN MY FIRST YEAR OF MARRIAGE was born. It’s my story, my lessons and a little piece of my journey. ❤️ 30th November, we’re bringing it to life! by @elyon_ben
Behind every book is a story, and behind this book is a woman who has been writing since her teenage years, carrying dreams and battling procrastination. I’m Elyon Adzumah Gideon, and I’m finally giving one of those dreams life! This is more than a book launch for me. It’s a reminder that it’s never too late to finish what you started. Come meet the woman behind the pages. ❤️📖 Things I Wish I Knew In My First Year Of Marriage by @elyon_ben
DAY 2/30 WHO IS THE WOMAN BEHIND THE BOOK? ❤️📖 My name is Elyon Adzumah Gideon. I was born and brought up in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. I am a graduate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK). I am a writer, a businesswoman, a born hustler, a wife and a mother. I have been writing since my teenage years. Writing has always been a part of me. I’ve had ideas, written down thoughts and started working on different books over the years. But procrastination happened, and somehow, those books never made it to completion. Until now! Things I Wish I Knew In My First Year Of Marriage is the first book I am actually completing, and that makes this journey incredibly special to me. This book represents years of carrying ideas, postponing dreams and finally finding the courage and determination to see one of them through. I write from experiences, observations, conversations and lessons life has taught me. I don’t claim to have life or marriage figured out. I am simply a woman who is constantly learning, unlearning, growing and sharing some of the lessons along the way. Beyond writing, I am a woman with big dreams. I love business, I love creating, I love building and I believe God has placed so much inside of me that the world is yet to see. I am grateful for the gift of being a wife and a mother, and I am learning to embrace every season of my becoming. As I prepare to launch my first completed book on November 30th, my birthday, I am celebrating more than a book launch. I am celebrating consistency, growth, courage and the grace to finally finish what I started. My name is Elyon, and this is only the beginning! ❤️ P.S. If you’ve been sitting on a dream for years, perhaps this is your reminder to start again. It’s not too late to finish what you started. by @elyon_ben
I’m smart. I’m intelligent. I’m loved. I’m the whole damn deal! The Whole MF Decision I’m not the woman you used to know oh! God is doing an amazing thing inside of me. Ha! I’ve grown! And the beautiful thing is that I have chosen to be intentional about my growth. Not just outwardly, but from within. My mindset has changed. My heart is learning. My spirit is growing. I’m becoming more self-aware, more discerning, more forgiving and more intentional about the woman I am becoming. I’m not where I used to be, and I’m grateful to God for that. This is growth. This is grace. This is me becoming! ❤️ My name is Elyon Adzumah Gideon. I’m a writer, a businesswoman, a born hustler, and God has blessed me with the beautiful gifts of being a wife and a mother. I’m also an author, and my first book, Things I Wish I Knew In My First Year Of Marriage, is coming on the 30th of November, my birthday! I’m here to stay, and God is going to do amazing things through me. ❤️ by @elyon_ben
In everything you do, pray to God to help you see your own sins too! Pray for the spirit of discernment. Pray for the spirit of forgiveness. Pray that your heart does not become hardened. Pray for the grace to recognise your own faults and shortcomings. Sometimes, you might be loving the very people you genuinely want to have in your corner wrongly. You might be hurting people without even realising it. You might be so focused on what others are doing wrong that you fail to see where you need to do better. This is one of the things marriage teaches you. It is easy to point out what your spouse isn’t doing right, but how often do you pause to examine yourself? How often do you ask yourself, “Am I getting it right too? Am I showing up the way I expect my spouse to show up for me?” Marriage requires two people who are willing to learn, unlearn, forgive, grow and take responsibility for their actions. This is one of the conversations I had while writing my first book, Things I Wish I Knew In My First Year Of Marriage. It’s not a book about having a perfect marriage or knowing it all. It’s about lessons, experiences, growth and the things I wish I had understood earlier. My book launches on 30th November 2026, my birthday! 🥹❤️ We are officially counting down. Day 1 of 30! If you’d love to pre-order a copy, kindly send me a DM. Na only God dey perfect. May we never become so convinced of our own righteousness that we forget to examine ourselves. ❤️ by @elyon_ben
