We were strangers at the start of the year.

Then I put myself in a room that terrified me.

We met through the @selfmadeunfiltered . We were both there for our own reasons, and while I continued down the speaking route, she eventually chose a different path.

But we stayed in touch.

Months later, I told her I was heading to London for my studio recording.

She knew I was autistic. She knew crowds can be overwhelming for me. She knew that sometimes, simply getting myself into a busy environment can take more energy than people realise.

She could have just met me afterwards.

Instead, she said:

“Or I can meet up with you first for a bit of support.”

And she did.

She came with me.
She went at my pace.
She helped me prepare.
She gave me constructive feedback during rehearsals.
She filmed content for me.

And the thing that got me?

I didn’t have to ask.

At a time when I was exhausted from constantly pouring into other people, giving more than I had, and trying to keep filling everyone else’s cups…

Someone filled mine.

She gave me the same care I so naturally give to others — right when I was starting to wonder if I had anything left to give.

And maybe that’s one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned this year:

You don’t always need to do everything alone.

Sometimes, putting yourself in the room that terrifies you doesn’t just open a door to your career.

It introduces you to people who remind you that you deserve support too.

So here’s to the unexpected friendships, the people who show up without being asked, and the moments when what you give so freely finally finds its way back to you. 🤍

Sometimes, you don’t realise how empty your cup is until someone quietly starts filling it. Thank you @iammarissalynch taken in London, United Kingdom by @elysbx

My Reason Why?

A trauma at 8 years old! A ruined childhood, and a burnt future I would only know of when it was too late. Last year I said “I want to protect them! I want to safeguard young people and help them reconnect their traumatised inner child to their future healed selves, but, in a way society won’t punish them for when they are ready to live instead of just survive. For when they want to chase a career their younger selves set their hearts on. I’m telling my story so it doesn’t become yours, so YOU get the ending all of us with traumatised childhoods deserve ❤️
