This August came in swooning
And sweating.
Smoking too many cigarettes with the windows down every trip back and forth between where I sleep and where my mattress stays propped against a mountain of everything I own.
A lot of cold showers and getting used to the awkwardness of being out of place but feeling welcomed where you’d least expect it.
A little out of the car living between houses never hurt me, in fact I’ve chosen it over the pain and discomfort of home.
The townhouse. The cottage in the backyard.
The house I grew up in when I felt I didn’t deserve the love there.
Some level of transience is good for this one.
There’s a freedom in uprooting yourself.
A door closes for the last time and wherever it leads is a secret held dear like my old ragdoll waiting in the dark hutch of misplaced furniture.
My eyes are stitched open in a similar fashion with their gaze fixed on what is to come from the perpetual vessel of change.
I have become found in my wandering after so much time in one place left me dizzy and directionless.
I know where nowhere can take me. by @em.ages

Happy birthday and a very late congratulations to my brother @jessepmckinney 💌🕺🏻 You are someone who has never shied away from being your most goofy/dorky self and I’m glad that rubbed off on me a bit. I will never come close to being as kind and humble as you, though I strive to be. Thank you for marrying @hannsnleggs and giving me the big sister I didn’t know I needed (plus an extra brother and little sis 🫡). I love you both and hope that someday I find the kind of joy and admiration you share with each other.
