how many of us have a dream that we give up on simply because it would mean we have to start living a life that seemingly no one would co-sign?

as a daughter of immigrants, walking away from a corporate job was much more than choosing myself, it felt like choosing myself over their sacrifices. but when I remember the heart of what they chose to do, it was out of courage to leave their current situation in search of a better one.

now it’s my turn :)

join me on youtube where I’ll be exploring what it means to leave behind a life I inherited. I’m still figuring everything out as I go, so I hope you come along for the journey ♡

new york • boston • bangkok • connecticut

fulfilling my promise to myself 🦋📖✍️

this is the story of how I left corporate america to spend time living in thailand.

2025 was a year of a painful transformation. I didn’t want to let go of the story of who I was, the story of the life I built for myself by achieving my parents dreams of me getting a college degree & a corporate job.

there was a voice inside telling me that the life I was living wasn’t mine anymore, and it just got louder and louder.

the universe has a funny way of forcing your hand when you’re at your lowest - manufacturing a split in your paths to test whether you’re ready for the next chapter of growth in your life. you can choose to continue living the same loop, or you can choose a new one that comes with its own highs and lows.

for anyone who feels lost or feels like they’re lost in transition, hopefully my next chapter will inspire you to find what lights you up inside again ❤️

ps I swear someone told me that “jook sing” meant catching stars but it actually means bamboo reaching HAHHA I did not realize when I made the voiceover 😭 but it sounds similar to “catching stars” and it’s kind of a goated interpretation so I’m leaving it !!!

🇹🇭❤️

IM STARTING A 60-SECOND CHOPPED CANTO CHALLENGEEEE 💥💥

I’m starting this because I need to get better at actually USING the canto words I know to explain myself / tell stories 😭😭

for all my canto people whose parents speak and you want to speak more, join me!!! all you have to do is:

✧ pick a topic
✧ record yourself for 60 seconds (don’t re-record!!!)
✧ look up canto words that you didn’t know that were essential to getting your point across and have Google Translate speak it out to you
✧ post it (if you want and tag me if you do!!!)
✧ see where you are after 3 trials, and then keep going to 10, then 30!

and some advice:

[ DON’T BE ASHAMED THE POINT IS FOR IT TO BE CHOPPED ]
[ even if it’s dead silent, you still tried!! ]
[ start with doing it 3 times and see how you feel ]
[ store it so you can see your progress! you could post it privately, make a folder, or keep in drafts ]
[ you don’t have to do it 30 days in a row, just 30 times total 😌]

also, if you’re a canto ABC and you feel ashamed about speaking your canto, hopefully I made you feel slightly better about trying to speak 🥺 it’s not our fault our families will humiliate us if we try and then shame us for not speaking more canto 🤨🤨

anddddd canto ABCs join me on the 60-second chopped canto challenge to speak in canto for 60 seconds straight!!!

what topic should I try to talk about next?
