Summer is running away from us very fast, and that’s okay but I always wish it was longer. I always wish everything was longer but at the same time I can’t wait for the next thing to arrive, i think that’s a sign of a life very full.

This was August at home and oh what a delight it was! Watched my best friend marry her best friend, flew planes, painted paintings, biked and hiked and paddled and farmed, and spent time with so many wonderful people! I already have nostalgia but am excited that the leaves are turning and a slower season is coming :) by @em.mervyn

The time warp of Alberta tree planting, longest and shortest days of my life, stress hit a new all time high! Still haven’t quite recovered! But nothing lasts forever and as long as you make it out alive you will make it to brighter days (in BC now and the Yukon soon, brighter and brighter!!) by @em.mervyn

I’m in the bush and I honestly love to be but oh how I can’t wait to be doing the things that I do this so that I can do. Bush things now so I can go home and fly planes and paint pretty things :)

This is my “don’t worry I still really love this planting world” reminder to myself of why I grind through this world…. So that I can do my wanna be jobs the rest of the year 🙃 This video also makes it seem like I’m still tough enough to plant but I’m not hehe I just support the people who do. by @em.mervyn

It’s the season of dirty hands and happy heart! Of unexplainable 24/7 stress but somehow pure joy. Of camp food, block bouquets, and summer sun. Of pretending to be a plumber and electrician and always needing to have a plan. But most of all: Of trees & trees & so many trees!

Two months at home went by in a blink. Many hours at my easel, on the snow, and with my people (not all pictured because I’m loosing my spunk for photo taking).

Just as it’s maybe almost pretending to be spring soon it’s time to leave for the work that lets me live this lifestyle. It’s bittersweet because summer here is like none other and leaving is getting harder (even though I love my job and can’t wait hehe), but even if I miss the “best” months of the year oh my my I love the rest of the months here. And I haven’t even left yet but I can’t wait to come back next. by @em.mervyn

Life lately has been Cows, Quads, and some revelations. It is the things that shake us that remind us what truly matters, and how unfortunate is it that we sometimes need to be shook to realize this.

I’m deleting my story because I don’t think it brings value, but I’ll leave the simple reminder I was given.

Chase life now, do it without fear, and give time to all the people you love. Say the thing do the thing spend the time do not wait for tomorrow because you never know if you’ll have it by @em.mervyn

The last days in the Yukon. Wrapping up this season of being in the sky, being close to friends and family, and daydreaming. Moments taste sweeter when you know they won’t last forever, and I find that my appreciation for a place grows that way too. I wasn’t quite ready to leave the Yukon, but I am happy to be onto the next thing. I’m also already excited to go back next fall and slip deeper into this year scaled routine that I have made for myself. What a wonderful thing it is to realize that you can make life whatever you want it to be. by @em.mervyn
