Last night, the world lost someone truly rare.

Markos wasn’t just a man,he was a force. A presence. A heartbeat in every room, every platform, every moment that mattered.
He was, first and always, a family man. A devoted husband who loved Nina with everything he had, an incredible father to his five kids, and a proud grandfather whose legacy lives on through them.
To the rest of us, he was the voice of powerlifting during its golden years. From 2010 to 2020, Markos didn’t just participate in the sport, he shaped it.
From a humble garage gym to the biggest stages at the Arnold Sports Convention, he built something extraordinary. PTC, ProRaw, Big Dogs, these weren’t just events or places. They were experiences. They were where the world’s best came together, where limits were pushed, and where Markos stood at the center of it all, bringing it to life.
He had a way of making everything feel bigger.
The lifts, the crowds, the moments. He brought the world to us, and he put Australian powerlifting on the global map. Lifters from every corner of the world came not just for the competition, but for him and his passion for powerlifting.
But beyond all that, it was his energy that people fell in love with. His unique sense of humour.
He was authentic and genuine and he had such a deep love for the sport and the people in it. He made lifelong friends across the globe, and every one of them felt that same connection.
Markos didn’t just build platforms for us to compete on. He built a community. A family. And there are so many of us who are forever grateful to him.

His legacy will live on in every lift, every competition, every athlete he inspired, and every person lucky enough to have known him. Because of him, I found powerlifting , made lifelong friends, created PRORAW GYM and have the most incredible memories and moments.
You will be deeply missed, Markos. Love you by @emadnayef

@australianstrengthcoach in his element. Sebastian is a world class lifter. But an even better strength coach and speaker. I’ve had the pleasure of now listening to him multiple times. And he keeps getting better. If you are in Brisbane and want to be entertained by this unique, funny and super intelligent human message him ASAP. I’m not sure there may even be tickets left. I tried to get @steficohen to come out last year but she was finishing her doctorate. I’m so grateful and honoured that she and @hayden.bowe made the trip to Proraw XI this year. She arrived on Wednesday after travelling 37 hours. Then spent 9 hours on Thursday as a key note speaker at the Strength Summit. When I saw her napping 30 minutes before her first squat I was worried. But as the true superstar she is , she smashed it.
