𝚜𝚊𝚒𝚐𝚘𝚗 𝚓𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚢 𝚍𝚊𝚢 𝟽 🇻🇳

a bittersweet start to the day. john and i are finally parting ways for the next leg of our holiday, which felt strange after spending the whole week wandering saigon together.

today wasn’t meant to be a shopping day… but two things were on john’s mind. a pair of glasses he couldn’t stop thinking about and a very sore tooth 😭

we started the morning with a warm bowl of cháo, simple and comforting, before making a quick stop at @maisonmarou to pick up souvenirs for friends and family. their artisan chocolates are always such an easy gift.

sigh… we ended up shopping again.

we found the glasses john had been thinking about at @wardrobe_arc , a really cool little store we hadn’t planned on visiting. he got the glasses he came for… and a few extra pieces somehow made their way to the counter too.

to close out the night we watched the AO @luneproduction , which i’d HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting vietnam. theatre, acrobatics and storytelling all woven together in such a beautiful way. one of the most memorable shows i’ve seen while travelling.

and just like that, our saigon shopping adventure quietly comes to an end…

next stop? okinawa 🌊

started the morning with bánh mì from Banh Mi Ba Huynh. maybe a controversial take but if you’re from australia… the bánh mì back home still has my heart. if anyone has a must try bánh mì spot in vietnam please send recommendations my way 🙏🏼

after breakfast we headed to @cafe.oshimas to film an episode of the boiled egg pod. quiet little café, perfect for sitting down, and talking for hours ☕️

annndddd back to shop exploring we go:

1. @cocosin.official : i had high hopes for, but the selection didn’t quite land for me. pretty pieces, just a little more basic than what i was looking for.

2. @daphalestudios : completely different story. loved the pieces here and somehow walked out with three dresses 👗

3. we also dropped by central market. a few years ago this place used to house a lot of local brands, but it looks like the area is slowly being rebranded. many of the brands have moved over to vincom center dong khoi now. these days central market feels a bit like ben thanh market, just with more modern goods.

dinner was a seafood buffet at Cuu Van Long and it was wild. around $30 AUD for as much seafood as you could want and everything tasted incredibly fresh 🦐🦀

to end the night we stopped by a small family run massage spot called Genji Spa. since it was john’s last day he asked for a massage… halfway through he told them it hurt and the masseuse just said “good, it’s working” 😆

a very full day and somehow we’re already close to the end of our shopping spree in vietnam 🥺

started the morning with a bowl of chicken phở at Pho Mien Ga Ky Dong. light, comforting and the perfect fuel before another day of wandering 🍜

today we headed up to district 3 to explore a few shops a little outside the usual shopping streets. before that though i stopped by @cosie.nailstown . removal and a new set was only about $60 AUD - WHAT A STEAL 😭 check them out in the post because they did such a UNREAL job.

then the shopping began…

1. @mozaic.space : felt like a smaller version of compound garment. lots of local brands in one spot and john was loving the men’s streetwear pieces here.

2. @viery.studios : easily my favourite stop of the day. basically LSOUL without the price tag and with the same quality! the pieces here are so good. 11 out of 10.

3. @whose.studio : a bit of a hit or miss. if you go, head straight to the top floor. that was the highlight of the complex for me.

4. lastly @11garmentory which was… a lot 😭 racks everywhere and brands stacked on brands. great if you know what you’re looking for. browsing here might send your brain into overdrive.

i don’t know how we managed to fit all of this into one day but somehow we did. very proud of us.

𝚜𝚊𝚒𝚐𝚘𝚗 𝚓𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚢 𝚍𝚊𝚢 𝟺 🇻🇳

fuelled up with the infamous stone pot phở at Pho Vietnam before making our way to @compoundgarment. always a good start to the day when there’s good food and good clothes involved 😎

we took a small detour next door to @tf_phucho that ended up becoming one of my favourite moments from this trip. we got to brew our own coffee and since john and i were the only ones there, the staff kindly walked us through the entire complex.

the story behind total feeling has still stayed with me until now. it’s the owner’s passion project and every detail feels carefully thought out. from the design of the space to the small gift shop which only carries handmade pieces that each have a story behind them. many of the items come from the countryside where their coffee beans are harvested which made the whole experience feel really meaningful.

we somehow spent almost two hours there before heading over to @ruemiche (L’edition) which felt more like stepping into an art gallery than a clothing store. everything was beautifully presented. one small tip though some of the pieces there seem a little more expensive compared to buying them at the original stores.

after a quick dinner we squeezed in two more stops

1. Aatsu where we had a look around but the quality of most of the pieces felt a little underwhelming

2. @lsoul.official which was easily my favourite stop of the night. feminine, chic and their corsets are to die for 🥹

we’ve got three days left in saigon… will my luggage survive?

𝚜𝚊𝚒𝚐𝚘𝚗 𝚓𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚢 𝚍𝚊𝚢 𝟹 🇻🇳

starting the morning with one of my favourite breakfasts here. the cheapest eats and the freshest rice rolls. my favourite bánh ướt spot never disappoints and hits every time 🤍

today was a slightly ‘slower’ day, don’t get me wrong… we still shopped lol. we dropped by @levents and ended up finding sweaters that we definitely didn’t plan on buying but somehow came home with anyway.

speaking of hidden gems we also stumbled across the most beautiful handmade board game shop called @maztermindvn . the craftsmanship in the games was insane. john even showed the employee his favourite magic trick and as you can see… he was very impressed 😂

and a small personal win for today. i finally got my hands on a new black bag from @chautfifth.official !if you’re looking for a chic leather bags, this is vietnam’s samo ondoh!

another day wandering saigon and slowly filling up the suitcase.

𝚜𝚊𝚒𝚐𝚘𝚗 𝚓𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚢 𝚍𝚊𝚢 𝟸 🇻🇳

day 2 in saigon started with bánh cuốn at Hang Cuon Cao Thang which might be one of my favourite breakfasts here. simple, light and the perfect fuel to walk around the city.

a few of my favourite STAPLE stops from today:

1. @aaa_corner_ which is easily my favourite jewellery spots in saigon. i swear every time i visit i end up leaving with something new. their pieces are just too good not to.

2. @ohquao for souvenirs and this place actually surprised me with how much they had. snacks, incense, keychains, clothes, jewellery and so many little gifts. definitely one of those stores where you keep finding more things as you walk around.

3. and to finish the day we finally picked up some new frames from @seesonvn (aka the gentle monster of vn) 👓
hehe these are my favourite aviator sunnies on @johntan.creative!

4. lastly a quick drop by @mycelium.ism for a vintage steal ⚜️they have everything from issey miyake to vivienne westwood (THESE SUNNIES I WISH I GOT) and so many amazing belts! I wish I spent more time here 😭

another day exploring saigon and the suitcase space is slowly disappearing 😭
