Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is upon us. It is a bittersweet time to recognize how deeply intrenched DV is, in our systems, in our social structures, and in our society—while also holding onto hope for our future.

To fight against this evil may, at times, feel like a hopeless venture. But your advocacy, your resistance, and your belief in organizations like EmBark are what make a difference.

Change happens when actions, from the minuscule to the massive, accumulate—until those in positions of power can no longer ignore us.

We want to take a moment to honor those we have lost to domestic violence, to affirm and celebrate the strength of survivors, and to thank allies, who hold space for it all.

We see you, we know you, we love you. 💜

April 24th is Denim Day.

🐾 On April 24th and every day, EmBark stands in solidarity with survivors of SA.

🐾 The Denim Day campaign began in 1998 with the overturning of a rape conviction by the Italian Supreme Court. It was decided that since the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped remove them, implying that the assault was actually consensual.

🐾 The next day, the women of the Italian Parliament wore jeans, to show support for the victim.

🐾 Now, we wear denim on Denim Day to hold space for victims and survivors and to spread awareness about the misconceptions of sexual violence.
