A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person, the Holy Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another, the same Holy Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Holy Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else, the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Holy Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still, another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Holy Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, the God who summons horses and chariots and armies - they lie down and then can’t get up; they’re snuffed out like so many candles: “Forget about what’s happened (yeah, it was negative, tragic, sad, painful, and full of loss). I know you have Big Dreams for yourself, but don’t forget to appreciate how far you’ve come already. Bring back to memory those days when you prayed for the things you have now (Selah). I remember back on times I prayed for things I felt I desperately needed, and those prayers didn’t get answered overnight, but over time, God has been answering them all (much better than I would have done if truth be told). It was through this process of painstaking patience and seasons of time passing by that God taught me so much and did so much in the middle (the journey). There were times that I wanted to give up because things didn’t happen on my timeline, but God encouraged my heart through those times of "perceived" stagnancy and failure. There were times I felt disappointed and defeated, but even through those moments, I kept believing God would turn it all around for my good. Don’t stop praying! God hears your prayers, and in the right season (time & place), He will answer your prayers, too. The Lord always knows what’s best, and He always has something so much Bigger and Better in store for you. That is what the Scriptures mean in 1 Corinthians 2:9 when it declares, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” Be grateful for your progress. Hold on tightly to Hope (the enemy wants to rob you of this) that your future will eventually transcend your today.
