✈️ Alumni Spotlight: Andrés Munevar, ENV SP, M.S. ✈️

Embry-Riddle alumnus Andrés Munevar ’23 is taking his civil engineering expertise to the aviation industry as an Aviation Analyst at Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.

Andrés supports airport pavement management programs across the United States, helping advance critical aviation infrastructure.

💬 “I wanted more than a civil engineering degree. I wanted to immerse myself in aviation. Completing flight training alongside my engineering studies gave me a broader understanding of the industry and helped prepare me to be a competitive civil aviation engineer.”

We’re proud to celebrate Andrés and the impact he’s making across the aviation industry! 🛫

Walking, made easier. 🦿✨

Our researchers just landed a $523K NIH grant to build a personalized, 3D-printed hip exoskeleton that adapts to each wearer’s movement automatically. The goal? Help people stay mobile, independent, and connected to their communities.

Congrats to Dr. Shuzhen Luo and the whole Robotics and Intelligent Learning Lab team! 👏

Embry-Riddle Aerospace Engineering student Andrew Mayott is turning innovation into action with Mayott Aerospace and Project Stingray, an uncrewed aircraft designed to carry payloads of up to 275 pounds.

The student-led startup recently earned a $2,500 prize after placing third in the collegiate category at the Florida Venture Forum’s Early Stage Venture Conference, following a $10,000 second-place finish in Embry-Riddle’s Launch Your Venture competition.

From disaster response to infrastructure repair, Project Stingray could help tackle real-world challenges through the future of uncrewed aviation.

On 9/25, the Amateur Radio Club participated in the Astronomy Open House at Embry Riddle's College of Arts and Sciences!

We had so much fun introducing radio to people from all ages and backgrounds, and helping them understand how radio is used in astronomy and various space fields! We also demonstrated satellite repeaters by working multiple passes, including one with the repeater on the ISS!

If you're interested in radio, feel free to stop by our meetings!

6 PM Fridays in LB331!

Our latest MOE hot fire provided critical data for our team. During the test, a detonation occurred shortly after fuel was introduced into the combustion chamber. With the support of Cecil Spaceport, this test was done in a safe and secure environment with a trained test team.

We are taking the information that we learned during this test to continue to improve for future hot fires. We’re now preparing for a full launch vehicle waterflow next weekend, with another hot fire attempt coming up on October 9th, as we continue to push towards MOE launch in December.

If you’d like to support ERPL, our crowdfunding campaign is still live. Visit the link in our bio or pinned post to donate.

Big thanks to Launch Heaven Media (@launchheaven) for attending our hot fire and allowing us to use your great photos and videos! taken in Cecil Airport by @embryriddlecoe

🏆 Congratulations to Dr. Laxima Niure Kandel (EECS) and her research team on their success at the 45th AIAA/IEEE Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC)!
Their paper, “Comparative Performance Analysis of Cryptographic Workloads in Cyber-Physical Avionics,” won Best of Session (out of 4 papers), then went on to win Best of Track out of 30 competing papers! 🎉
Authored by Jeremiah L. Webb, Laxima Niure Kandel, Deepti Gupta, and Raju Dhakal, their research dives into how cryptographic methods perform on AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
We are so proud of the impact our faculty and students are making in the fields of avionics, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems.👏

Meet Aerospace Engineering Major, Jaden Caradine!

Before his NASA Pathways Internship, Jaden spent five years as a Marine Corps mechanic. That experience shaped how he thinks about long-term goals, and eventually led him to Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus to study aerospace engineering.

This past summer, Jaden worked with NASA’s in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM) team. While there, he helped build out their major industry report and created an automated tool to keep the team’s research up to date.

Congratulations to Jaden for being featured in a NASA article! 🛰️ Take a look at the article linked below to read Jaden’s advice for anyone considering the Pathways program (hint: just go for it).
