Join us this Monday from 6-8pm at Tightrope Theatre for GAMES PEOPLE PLAY taught by Lee Keple! 💥

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Talking ‘bout you and me and the games people play. In improvisation, we play and make stuff up on the spot. When we teach improv, we discuss characters, environments, and story structure, but what sparks improv is allowing ourselves to connect to moments of discovery, creation, and joy. This workshop is open to all experience levels (including never have you ever). Together, we will explore playful energy through improv games. Dress comfortably for movement, in whatever puts a smile on your face.

ABOUT LEE
Lee is a founding member of Queerprov. They are variously an educator, comedian, emcee, drag king, and improviser who has performed at venues ranging in size from some rich guy’s living room to the Agridome. They’ve appeared on Out TV’s “Out for Laughs” and were cast in the unaired second season of “Tops & Bottoms.”

REGISTRATION IS PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN at the link in our bio (or you can bring cash)! No one turned away due to lack of funds! 2SLGBTIA+ folks & allies welcome. ❤️ taken in Tightrope Impro Theatre by @emceelee123

Unhinged is the only way to describe our final show of the season. Thanks to y'all who came out to watch. Your judgement and your questions could not be contained!

Comedian, queer elder and veteran Lee Keple got vulnerable and asked you if she is the a-hole for cheering for professional men's sports teams with abusers on the roster. Little did she know our audience contained an entire queer basketball team and their friends who asked some hard hitting questions.

One question:
"Do you think your time in the military has made you more likely to accept men abusing power?"

Woah!

Meanwhile, we had a truly zany cast of experts weighing in on this genuinely fraught topic, including:

Ese Atawo as Bob the Bounty Hunter who will find you if you skip your bail hearing and who got romantic with Mossford, our other experts and the whole front row of the audience with big confidence.

Nick Blythe as The Ice Rink. He has PTSD from all the sharp skates gliding over him and the only thing that sooths him is his horny love of the zamboni.

Caitlynne Medrek as Princess Anna, the spare heir in Frozen. She surprised us all bursting into a beautiful but bawdy song, and by her seeming attraction to both Bob the Bounty Hunter AND The Ice Rink!

Ultimately you decided that Lee Keple was the a-hole for cheering for problematic teams, but separating the art from the artist or the jock from the allegations is a thing we all have to wrestle with in sports, arts and community so it was good to air it out.

When we say this show must be experienced live, it is because it is impossible to explain what it is like to have people debating the nuances of complicity with an ice rink.

New season starts Oct 9th!

This Friday, Nick Blythe is stepping out from behind the scenes to the main stage! He usually runs tech, sound and video for our show, and makes everyone else look good. Now it is his turn to bring a character to life and give some questionable advice to our storyteller, Lee Keple, so that you can decide if she is the A-hole on our comedy gameshow!

Nick Blythe has been improvising since 2021. He has worked with instant theatre and Blind Tiger and is slowly trying to make it in the improv world.

Nick loves the connection that comes with comedy, both connecting to the audience on stage and meeting new friends in the community. Comedy has helped him connect with people which, as an autistic person, he appreciates deeply.

Come and see Nick in action this Friday at Little Mountain Gallery!

We are beyond lucky to have Ese Atawo as a returning guest to our comedy gameshow this Friday!

Ese is a Nigerian-born, Toronto-raised, Vancouver-resident improviser. She started her comedy career at Second City, and she's still doing it...to her surprise. She's part of acclaimed local troupes Your Moms and Nasty Women.

Ese teaches at Blind Tiger, where students give her rave reviews and you can catch her at Seasoned, an improve show that she produces and stars in with Ronald Dario and Kevin Vidal at Little Mountain Gallery.

This is Ese's third appearance on The AITAH Game. Characters she has shared with us include a holier-than-thou Christian guidance counsellor and a fearsome pirate. Swipe for a short clip.

We can't wait to see what character she will bring to Friday's show to dispense advice and make you laugh.

❤ Caitlynne Medrek is an award winning actress who's spent her entire life on stages across Canada.
💙 You may know her voice from cartoons like Dragon Ball GT and Total Drama Island or seen her on your tv screens in shows like Fargo S3 or Heartland!
💚 She spent 3 years as a cast member on Calgary's only improvised soap opera, Dirty Laundry, and can't wait to make her Vancouver improv debut with you all at AITAH!

💛 Cailtlynne will bring a character to The AITAH Game that will help our storyteller discover if they are the A-hole by giving (questionable) advice freely, much like the anonymous commenters in the AITAH subreddit.

💜 This show is a magical live experience with a new cast each time. Come check it out. This is your last chance until November when our next season starts.

Our last comedy gameshow of the season is Fri June 12th, and holy doodle, what a cast!

You, the audience will decide if comedian Lee Keple is the A-hole, with the help of three fantastic 'experts' in character performed by Ese Atawo, Caitlynne Medrek and Nick Blythe!

Catch these talents, hosted by Mossford L. Putnam, at Little Mountain Gallery in Gastown.

@thestubbornbaker Pop Up Bakery was worth the walk in the rain. If you’re in East Van today, head on down to 417 Industrial Ave before 6 to get some of these goodies. The carrot „Karat“ cake muffin and raspberry poptart were heavenly. #BuyLocal #Yum by @emceelee123
