During Covid, in the darkest times where nothing felt sparkly (OK folks, CHI was just getting out of lock down when I moved back), my old PM hit me up, with a surprise, he couldn't tell me what it was, but we HAD to meet up. As I was at Lincoln Hall while we were doing the incredible STAGED livestreams, Jay met me out back at our loading doors. He'd been working w/ a friend during lock down and found this... Dolly Parton's signature. And he had to bring it to me. I cried tears of gratitude and joy and found it a sparkly frame. I will never forget how beautiful that moment was.

My original time in Oklahoma, I got to run around with some bad girls @therachelbrashear and @thedigsy (badass club tattooed on our bodies as such), and our time together celebrated Dolly, but when Rachel moved to Portland, and I moved to Chicago, we would mail each other Dolly stickers or text Dolly-isms, and she always could so easily reunite us no matter how much time or space separated us.

At my first apartment when I moved back to OKC, it was the first time I'd ever gotten to live alone, and I had my dog, and I was running an incredible venue, I had reached my dream existence. But... the apartment next to my bedroom was an AirBNB, and there was endless bullshit I got to hear through the walls. BUT. I would just turn my phone volume up LOUD, place it right up against the shared wall, and BLAST ISLANDS IN THE STREAM *on repeat* until whatever horrible thing that was happening next to me would suddenly stop 😇

I've stuffed my bra full of t-shirts and bought the biggest wig I could find to honor her in Halloween pasts, WWDD is a phrase I whisper to myself whenever I'm nooooot feeling very... collected.

I can't believe I got to exist in her timeline for so long, but I am a MUCH better woman because of it.

For my beautiful mum, I am so thankful. She taught me the meaning of that word, and forever continues to teach me how to fully embrace and appreciate its understanding.
