First day of clinics! Rotation 1: Small Animal Anesthesia

For 3rd year students at uga, we slit up the year by doing 3 blocks/9 weeks of rotations paired with 9 weeks of didactic learning and then electives w/ the rest of our rotations in the spring. Overall rating the first day 7.5/10, definitely had the first day jitters but still super excited about growing confident in my anesthetic knowledge!

Stay tuned!

New year, new building, new classroom! ✨
Third year has officially arrived, and I have so many goals I’m excited to work toward this year. Only 2 months left until my first clinical rotation😳!I can’t wait to start applying everything we’ve learned in the clinic.
Here’s to another year of (barely) surviving this chaos 😌

NABV Conference!

There’s something incredibly powerful about being in a room full of Black veterinarians, Black veterinary students, and future leaders. Being surrounded by so many young, gifted, and brilliant Black minds was both inspiring and affirming. It was such a privilege to connect with so many incredible people and be in a space filled with belonging, encouragement, and positive energy.

Representation matters. Community matters. This conference was a reminder that even when it may not always feel like it, we are never alone. We have a community that supports, uplifts, and believes in one another—and together, we’re building something bigger than ourselves.

Until next time, NABV. 🫶🏾

Vetcamp 2026: this cycled out the end of my vetcamp journey. This has been such a wonderful experience and a meaningful chapter in my life and I’m incredibly grateful for every moment of it. It was a privilege to mentor, inspire, and build lasting connections with not only my 9 campers, but as well as counselors and the rest of the campers.Being able to introduce vet med to these students has been extremely rewarding. ✨

50% Dr!! Second year was filled with lots of late night studying, tears and laughter. Although it was mentally challenging, i’m proud of how much I grew and challenged myself. I can’t believe I’m already halfway done! T-5 months until clinics 😬

Happy World Veterinary Day🤍💙🌍
With this year’s theme, “Guardians of Food and Health,” we celebrate veterinarians beyond their role clinical medicine such as protecting animal welfare, public health, and food safety. I’m grateful to be joining a profession dedicated to serving in so many ways.

Surgery alert‼️
On Wednesday, I completed my first surgery- a feline neuter❌🥜. For this, I was lead surgeon so my job entailed completing a physical exam on our patient, excising his testicles(w/ a supervising vet), post op exams and writing up SOAPs, surgery and discharge reports. Shoutout to my sx team! Next up: two dog neuters over the next couple of weeks, where I’ll be rotating roles as assistant surgeon and anesthesiologist. I’m so excited!

4 more weeks until 2nd year ends(which is CRAZY)

As February comes to an end, I just want to take a moment to honor and celebrate Black History Month, especially this year, marking 100 years of its recognition. ❤️💛💚🖤

Slides 1–3: Celebrating at the Black History Month Luncheon at the University of Georgia with my fellow SNABV exec members and advisors. It was so special to connect with Black faculty and staff across the vet school and UGA community.
Slide 4: I had the honor of serving on a vet student panel with the Pre-Vet Club at Spelman College. Shoutout to them for having me. I truly enjoyed meeting and speaking with you all!

Cheers to 100 more years of being black☺️

Spring semester has officially begun!
Three weeks of break came and flew by. I worked a few days over break, but still made sure to take full advantage of the rest—catching up on sleep, relaxing, and focusing on myself while spending time with the people I love.

With school starting back, I have now fully transitioned into my role as President of UGA’s SNABV chapter( @ugasnabv ), and i’m so excited to host events and build more connections with my chapter.

For those that have classes starting soon, I hope you enjoy your break and good luck🍀
