“The Fellowship”

If you saw my last reel, you already know the struggle(s) I went through to make this painting 😅 Not everything in art is pretty or simple. Often times, some trial and error is necessary to get to the desired outcome.

All that said, once I started over on this painting, I had quite a bit of fun experimenting with a new style. I had finished painting the fellowship characters, but it didn’t feel like they stood out enough against the mountains. So I decided to outline them, and I think it worked for this particular piece 🤷🏻‍♀️😊

Honestly, I would have added more details/shading to the mountains, but I did use my right hand for the little lines and, since it was still recovering, I had to call it quits. Regardless, still glad I pushed through 💪

Who is your favorite character in the fellowship? 💍🌋🍃

Personally, I love Gandalf—how could you not?! I love how he knows so much, yet reveals certain answers only when the time is right. He is helpful and wise, yet he allows others to think for themselves and make tough decisions on their own. He has power, but does not abuse it. He may be an old wizard, but he’s a badass 🧙🏻‍♂️✨ by @emerging.entropy

A closer look at my Lord of the Rings x The Beatles painting 👀🤗

I mentioned this in my last post, but I love combining things that make me happy 😊 This is a reflection of the things that make me smile, and I hope they make you smile too!

Honestly, I made Samwise so plump that it makes me laugh a bit every time I look at this 😂 He just loves his potatoes and is always ready with his frying pan 🍳

I have some ideas for future Lord of the Rings x Famous rock album covers. I’m going to have to buy more canvases asap 😅

What’s your favorite album cover? Maybe you’ll give me some extra inspiration in the comments below 🫶🏻✨

Day 12 of painting portraits because I kinda suck at them ✨💫

Today we’re painting perfection…..uh, I mean, Aragorn😍 From the character to the actor, I feel like not much else needs to be said, right? We’re all on the same page here 🤭

Talk about a true man—a brave leader, someone who approaches life with an unbreakable character, humility, love, and boldness 🗡️✨🫶🏻

What do you think of Aragorn?

I’m lowkey sad that my little series has come to an end, but if you liked this format, lmk below! I’d love to do another series in the future (potentially after the holidays…and I already have a little idea cooking up) 🎨

Next week I’ll post a carousel of the portraits so you can scroll through them at your leisure 🤗

Day 11 of painting portraits because I kinda suck at them ✨💫

Today we’re painting Boromir 📯 tbh no one can make me hate him. He represents the most human part of the fellowship, perhaps—wanting to fight for good, but not knowing how.

And yeah, that extended scene is the best—the real ones know 💫 He was never truly arrogant or evil, he was just trying to make his father happy 🍅

Anyway, how do you think Boromir turned out?

Final day coming tomorrow and I’m kinda sad about it. One more character left and I bet you know who it is 😉

Day 10 of painting portraits because I kinda suck at them 💫✨

Today we’re painting Arwen ✨ Although that epic Nazgûl chase scene was technically supposed to be with Glorfindel (I KNOW—geek level is insaneee), I still think she’s a powerful character. She sacrifices her immortality for true love and I think that is so beautiful 🥹

What do you think of Arwen?

Two more Lord of the Rings characters to go…who do you think is coming next? 👀

Day 9 of painting portraits because I kinda suck at them ✨💫

Today we’re painting my fave leading lady, Éowyn 🗡️
And, no, we are def not gonna talk about my little attempt at fencing 🤺 idk what I was thinking 😂

I love Éowyn because she is so brave and, despite others perhaps doubting her abilities, she charges forward at full force, fighting for what she believes in. She does not fear death, she does not fear pain, she fights for what is good ✨

How do you think this one turned out?

Day 8 of painting portraits because I kinda suck at them ✨💫

Today we’re painting Gimli 🪓 I relate to our boy Gimli because I’m also extremely short and would also need a box to stand on to see the war below (iykyk) 🤭

I absolutely loved painting this one! Something clicked in my head when I was painting his face and beard. I also loved making his armor. The color palette was a fun one and perfect for fall tbh 🍁

Lmk what you think ✨

Day 7 of practicing portraits because I kinda suck at them 💫✨

Today we’re painting Legolas 🏹 Such a badass with the bow, but cracks me up every time with his little lines 🤏🏻😂

Can’t believe we’re more than halfway through this Lord of the Rings portrait series! Gimli is coming up real soon 😉 Can’t have Legolas without Gimli!

Day 6 of practicing portraits because I kinda suck at them ✨💫

Today we’re painting Galadriel ✨ and I need to know: are you a fan of the Rings of Power Galadriel? I have to be honest, I gave up on ROP after the first season 🫣

I do think Galadriel’s character is so intriguing and mystical, though—having lived such a long time and carrying so much wisdom, being able to insert herself in others’ minds. She’s a calm, collected badass 💥

How do you think this one turned out?

Day five of painting portraits because I kinda suck at them 💫✨

Today we’re painting Gandalf. I love Gandalf so much—he is so wise, yet allows others to make their own decisions. He always fights for what is right and true 🫶🏻

Day 4 of LOTR portrait practice 💫

Today we’re painting Merry and BOY did this one throw me for a loop! But I told myself not to spend more than a few hours on each portrait, so I chose not to obsess over it too much.

Anyway, here’s the last hobbit before we move on to some other LOTR characters ✨

Follow along to see the rest of the fellowship (and some other Lord of the Rings characters) come to life on canvas 🎨
