The #Siggraph #appyhour is an excellent side event (kind of like a side quest but even better), so many cool projects that will likely become bigger things! taken in LA Convention Center by @emergingtechmastery

Very Steam punk Willy Wonka-esque music making vibes from Taisei Kato (@potarhythm), Ph.D. student of #Tokyo Metropolitan University

Taisei has a cool YouTube channel where he performs with this as well!

Cyberpunk plant brain!

This fascinating abstract demonstration of art, science and the human brain 🧠 is an incredible real world depiction of how synapses actually fire in the human brain.

I had a great time chatting with Mert from @metaesthetica_ etica and Jason about this fascinating exhibition.

This Japanese team from #MeiseiUniversity under the leadership of Professor Toshitaka Amaoka, Ph.D. are redefining what a pixel is.

Digitally speaking, we are typically limited by a round circle which is the minimum unit available for depicting an image.

What this team has done is created two layer liquid surface display with water and oil using bumps to push the "pixel" above water. This means a line can be one full "pixel" vs several pixel dots needed to make a line digitally.

Other than the electricity required for the pumps this setup is entirely analog and mechanical which is extra fascinating!
