Honoured to have been part of @welcometocampmiasma
This is truly a special film by @janedoesnotknow

Huge thanks to @amazingapeproductions for trusting me to fabricate and paint the two hero “Little Death” helmets worn by #JackHaven. Designed by Werner Pretorius.

I built two distinct versions:
* A high-detail hero helmet
* A dedicated stunt helmet

I tested many materials on this project.
Finding the perfect balance between minimal weight and maximum rigidity took a lot of material testing. The final helmets also feature removable panels, blackout mesh, drainage holes for underwater scenes, and a custom-fit quick-release skull cap system.

All work done at @amazingapeproductions.

3D reference models and printed components provided by @elkkinl.

Extra paint detailing by @erin.swan.peters

On-set makeup artists who brought it all together:
@caitlinmua @gomyo @erin.swan.peters @lindsayyy_makeup

Can’t wait for everyone to see these in action. On the big screen!!!

*SCULPTED BY JAMIE SALMON* One of my favourite creature fx things ever is the raptors from Jurassic Park. So when I saw that @salmon.jamie had unearthed the mold for this masterpiece he sculpted 25 yrs ago I just had to have one. I’m so grateful that he was able to run a copy for me. This kept me busy during the winter holidays. Assembling and painting this to display in my house was a real treat! Thanks to @amazingapeproductions for letting me take some nice pics at the shop. by @emersenziffle

A while back I had the absolute pleasure of working with @amazingapeproductions for Amazon Prime Video to produce a miniature for the doc series ‘In Cold Water. The Shelter Bay Mystery. Directed by @trish_neufeld. And worked closely with cinematographer @sj_berrill

I was first approached to fabricate a scale Zodiac Boat/umbrella. And shortly after finishing these, was asked to make an 8’x8’ scale model of a courtroom. This was a much bigger task and required the space and talented artists at Amazing Ape. It was to be featured throughout the various re-enactments in the show. We had an extremely tight time line for the build. But it was a fun technical challenge. Switching gears from our typical clay, silicone and fiber-glass processes, to woodworking, sanding and so much superglue. It was a refreshing project!

With just under a month to deliver, we got to work. Starting with setting up a suitable wood-shop. We produced hundreds upon hundreds of small intricate wooden details. 97% of what you see is hand made. Less a few purchased chairs and printed stand-in’s.

We also had to make the courtroom sturdy enough and waterproof such that it could withstand being flooded with water and a sudden dump of water as it’s flooded in one of the sequence’s. We designed a simple dump-rig that could be easily filled and safely tipped for maximum effect.

Special thanks to at @kimmyziff for tolerating the first half of this project which was built in our dining room and for patterning and seaming that simple but oh so complex umbrella. And to @selenalikes for her hard-work and focus assisting with the fabrication of the courtroom both off and on set.

Another shoutout to @uncanny_arts and @stevensaunderssculpture from @scalestudiosnz for reaching out to me with the project originally.

If you want to see the work, please check it out on Prime. And enjoy these bts pics!
