september is national suicide prevention month.

i have seen post after post of statistics and resources, but seeing the personal stories is what has inspired me most.

everyone who has had the bravery to post has my utmost respect and admiration. for that reason, i have decided to share my own story.

my struggles with these thoughts have only been made known to very few people, so a post like this absolutely terrifies me. this is not something i would typically put out into the world, but i know it will make me feel so much better.

i have faced mental health challenges from a very young age and have continued to face these on a day to day basis. it not only affected how i saw myself, but it shaped how i interacted with others, how i performed in school and how i saw the world.

if i had not sought help, i wouldn’t have attended my eight grade graduation, my freshman, sophomore and junior year, and met the incredible people i can now call my best friends.

these periods of my life have taught me to always love with all you can give because you never know how much it can change a person’s day.

remember, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

seek help because while life is not perfect, it will get better. by @emharmatuk
