𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟔 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 ::: 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐫𝐳𝐨𝐞𝐯Emil Mirzoev is a self-taught sound enthusiast, DJ, and events organiser currently based in Brussels, while remaining nomadic. Formerly active as a curator and artist host for experimental and improvised music events across Russia, Georgia, and Armenia, he has hosted such as Carl Stone, Laraaji, Tony Buck, Asa-Chang & Junray, and DJ Marcelle. He recently became a small part of the Fenêtre Ovale collective. The listening session will include a selection of personally influential tracks from across the musical spectrum, a short deep listening exercise, and field recordings—inviting reflection on lived philosophy, history, humour, YouTube comments, and whatever else may surface.Second Sundays is a monthly series initiated by Q-O2. Each session a new guest is invited to share an insight into their own listening, playing and speaking about a selection of sound and music that is important to their thinking or practice. Yorgos Stenos from Trigger Happy performed at Richterfest in Moscow in 2019. Here’s how it wentYorgos came to the capital to take part in children’s workshops at Gorky Park on building quirky musical instruments. Naturally, we invited him to perform at the festival, which that year took place in an intimate setting at the DOM Cultural Centre. Yorgos’s set was memorable for its eccentricity and liveliness — he assembled a whole machine for producing wild sounds from dozens of objects and put on a show.Yorgos says: “I had just compiled a very portable, fit-everything-in-a-flight-case setup when Richterfest 2019 showed up in the horizon. It was Autumn 2019, i had a job in Moscow, and luckily enough Richterfest was happening at the same time, so this wonderful moment took place. My suitcase contained a few clothes, my diy amplified percussion instruments, a small mixer, a loop pedal and two cheap portable turntables. Those turntables were the reason why a couple of days before the performance my friend Emil Mirzoev took the roads with me to guide me through some wonderful record-shops for weird-vinyl scouting - and yes, many gems were found. After the gig I can delightfully recall the wild mushroom-infused vodka that the venue was offering, and the brilliant nights that followed, strolling around Moscow”.Well, the debut album by Trigger Happy, featuring Yorgos Stenos, is due out TOMORROW!📹 A clip from Yorgos Stenos’s performance at Richterfest 2019.
