I think it’s incredibly important to take pride in your own work, and to remember to experience joy within your own art. I’ve had so many reasons for joy these past few weeks, making music with my friends and experiencing the culminations of my 4 years at college. Just yesterday, I had the great honor of receiving both the Dorthe Garett Carrillo award for outstanding senior guitarist, and the outstanding student in composition award. And in just 1 week from now I’ll be graduating with a Bachelors in Music and moving into a new phase of my life.

My composition Beating of the Fire was recently played at LCCS by my lovely talented friends. This piece was originally for electric guitar and nylon string guitar and has been adapted for jazz combo and nylon string guitar.

31 EDO: The hexatonic Mothra scale is built by stacking super major seconds, an interval that approximates the ratio of the 8th and 7th partials from the harmonic series. This ratio becomes the basis of the prolation canon between the middle voices of the piano parts.

All pitch material comes out of the chord from the first bar, a voicing of Mothra[6] with extensions stolen from @digital.harmonic.

This prolation canon takes 56 loops before it repeats, but for brevity I included just one loop before presenting them in rhythmic unison. by @emiltellefsencomposer

31 EDO Application of Double Mode Theory, as well as color applications of Mothra[6]. Notes highlighted in blue show common tones between chords, which are used to smoothly transition between the prime mode and second mode.
