Plans for the summer: 1. Go on a 16-day road trip to MO, PA, and Boston with husband, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old. 2. Grow fabulous tomatoes again. 3. Get these people ready for Baby #3 coming October 12. 4. Have adventures. 5. Run that mini masterclass you keep hearing me talk about. Life is very fun and very full. Sometimes it feels too full. I pretty much spent the first quarter of this year sleeping through the first trimester. But, I am grateful for the formation and encouragement I have received over the years from so many good men and women who helped me keep everyone fed and the house standing This mini mastermind is a sample of some projects I've been working on with my women's group at church. THAT project is the result of much reading, conversation, and the experiences of my own life. My goal is to facilitate opportunities for women to grow in their mental and practical resilience through training that expedites the process. Sure, you might naturally be forced to learn these things through the regular events of life. But why not build those skills NOW so that when life gets busy, you can honestly say "I've got this...any even if I don't, that's okay too!" This four-week mini masterclass is free and starts in May. Here are our topics: - Freedom from comparison (genuinely stop seeing other women as a threat and harvest the good) - Managing overwhelm - Discerning desires - Identifying and healing self-worth. This course is open to any woman but this time it will be especially geared towards single women, wives (kids or no kids), and mothers of young children. I look forward to seeing you in class! "How come SHE got to finally meet the man of her dreams?! Only been waiting years over here..." "She has a million small children and still looks good in public while I'm over here like I just got back from the war." "She might be kind and everyone loves her but I am WAY more disciplined about my fitness and my house is immaculate." A few years ago I went through a 'Freedom From Comparison' challenge created by a gal named January Donovan. It was easily one of the biggest upgrades my social life ever had. Life is too short to let the "threat" of other people's successes, opinions, etc. be the phantom keeping you from your work. You have things to do, fun to have, people to serve. But just wanting to not play the comparison game is a loooooong haul without practical skills. Last week I facilitated one of the same workshops for a group of 25 women at church. Tomorrow night I'm hosting the same event online BUT the creator of that workshop will be joining me to answer YOUR questions. Join me at TOMORROW EVENING at 5:00pm MST (4pm PST, 6pm CST, 7pm EST) for a mini Freedom From Comparison Workshop to be followed by a Q&A with January, founder of the Woman School and mother of 8 children. Why is it that some women seem so "on top off" life while others are always in survival mode? (And I mean like TRULY peaceful, thriving lives, not just whatever you see posted online). What is that ONE THING you really want to do but for some reason, you just aren't doing it? It's been a personal topic of interest for years at this point. Feminine and human formation are a life long topic of interest for me and what women want is a big part of that. Just kinda. But not just interest. I would like to DO something about it. In the past couple of years, I started and have been running a womens' group at church, talked to a lot of girlfriends and sisters, read a lot of books, and survived the first three years of parenting. This has been a lot of fun for me and very enriching. One thing that stands out to me again and again is that many women are not pursuing the lives they want or are excited about. Single, married, widowed...Reasons given are things like "being practical", "waiting for God's will", "don't have time","don't know if it's the right time", "don't feel worthy of it", or they just flat out don't know what they want, they just want that subtle increasing anxiety to go away. Or they chase distractions. This Wednesday, November 20, at 6:00pm MDT I will be presenting a training on the necessity and PRACTICALITY of dreaming and going after it. My hope is two-fold: 1) to provide women with something that helps women get out there are do what they were created and 2) to learn more about how I might better serve women and be a better woman myself. ⭐️⭐️⭐️Sign up in my bio or DM me for the link. There's a lot of fluff out there about "you can have/be whatever you want" out there. This is not that. Bring your favorite beverage, notebook, and pen. I hope to see you there!💃 The glory of God is man fully alive. - St. Irenaeus by @emily.friedl

Day 5 YOU MADE IT.  First, I want to honor you for taking this step. Confession, when I first did this I was sooooo convicted and it was not just a little bit humbling.  There is a whole world of friendship, growth, and freshness when you decide to free yourself from comparison. And YES, it is a DECISION.  Commit to rewiring your old mindset of seeing women as a threat with a mindset that sees other women as an opportunity of wisdom, growth, connection and PEACE OF MIND in your own life.  Commit to searching out and acknowledging the value in other women. In return, you will heal your own self image.  Set dreams so big that you don’t have time to compare yourself. Set dreams so big that you must become a new woman and enlist the experiences and expertise of other women to get there.  When you are tempted to fall back into old ways, consider this: What do I lose if I choose a spirit of comparison? Do I want to deal with the resentment, stress, anxiety, depression, and social disorder/frustration that will arise?  How will my refusal to embrace a spirit of generosity and collaboration affect those around me? I will leave you with this script: Godspeed in your journey towards a more generous life! God has created me to do him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another. I have my mission; I never may know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I have a part in a great work; I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good, I shall do His work; I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it, if I do but keep His commandments and serve Him in my calling. - St. John Henry Newman #freedomfromcomparison #comparisonchallenge #thewomanschool #thewholenessschool #stjohnhenrynewman by @emily.friedl
DAY 4 You want freedom from comparison. Comparing yourself to other women points to our wounds and these wounds affect our sense of self worth. When we make these comparisons, we have two options within our thoughts: We can compare ourselves and beat ourselves up and see other women as a threat OR we can be grateful for what that woman brings to the table and consider how we might learn from her to improve our own contributions to God and the world. When you honor the value of other women, you will be able to honor your own self worth. We talked about designing your self image into the woman you want to be. Who is the woman you want to become in each area of your life? Thatwas homework yesterday. Write a picture of this new woman who is worthy of YOU and your effort. You should be so excited about becoming this woman that you don't have TIME to compare yourself! Now that you've have a picture of where you want to go, let's dial in on the specific skills you will need to acquire. Maybe you need to learn on to fail forward. Do you have a morning routine? Where does your mind go when the environment around you becomes overwhelming? How do you handle difficult people? That's today's homework! Remember, confidence equals confidence. When you are working towards a skill or have become very good at a skill, confidence will be free flowing. You deserve a strong mindset and competency across skills and it WILL take work. This is the virtuous woman. DM for a link to the video and homework! #comparisonchallenge #freedom from comparison #wholeness #thewomanschool by @emily.friedl
