Tate is a year old!! We love him and couldn’t be more grateful the Lord saw us fit to be his parents. What a blessing to have an upfront seat to his life, and what a gift it has been for me to get to do it with Reed by my side.

In our experience, the first year of parenthood was: prayers felt, people who held our baby, meals we didn’t have to cook, hand me downs, encouraging messages, “send me your coffee order” texts, conversations about how the baby is doing, conversations about things other than how the baby is doing, thoughtful listeners, parents who took the night shift, friends who checked in in person and from far away, gifts for Tate that he (and we) will cherish for life, and a thank you note list that grew faster than we could keep up with. We knew with a baby came so much love, that would change our lives and bring in more love than we could fathom, but we didn’t expect the love to come & multiply so deeply from the people in our corner. We have never felt so carried in our lives. This year was filled with people who gave us the confidence that we were capable of figuring out how to be parents on our own, but who never made us feel like we had to.🤍 If the love we have felt from our community in Tate’s first 12 months of life is any reflection of the rest of it - he’s more blessed than anyone I know. by @emilybsalter
