Our family dinner at moon festival. I made a Chaozhou-style crispy Fried taro shreds that my mom used to make during it in the past. I really miss my mom.

My first encounter with Yayoi Kusama was when my brother took me to a small shop in Omotesando to find her pumpkin decoration. That shop is on the original site of Omotesando Hills. At that time, the area extending to Minami-Aoyama and Daikanyama was filled with unique shops selling distinctive fashion and art creations. There was no Google Maps back then, so we had to find all the shops by looking at magazines and walking around to mark them. Later, I watched her documentary at Art center and through my brother bought her books which made me became to her fans.

Yayoi Kusama's life was full of legends. She was plagued by mental illness throughout her life but it was this illness that opened up her artistic world. She focused on creating every moment before her death and her studio was near the hospital where she stayed. Although she has left this world, her creations will continue to live on. Life is short and nothing can be taken to eternity except the salvation of Jesus Christ.
