Tip Tuesday!
Today we are going to the basics. Things to help riders pop up first try 😊

A few things I like to do is make the wave flatter, slow the speed down a little and if possible more the rope to the side they will be surfing on.

Before getting them on the water I go over how when we try to stand up off the floor we need our heels in close to our butt. It’s something we do naturally to stand up off the ground, but doesn’t always come naturally on the water.
When getting the board under their feet once there is tension, make sure they are in a small ball with their chest up and the board slightly underneath them.
Remind them to slowly stand once up, it’s best to stay slightly away from the wave while finding balance.

To stay in the wave, make sure weight is over your toes and feet are placed well on the board. If your feel are closer to the heel edge it can pull you away from the sweet spot.
Look up at the boat, try to relax, soft knees, chest up and breathe!!!

Water skiers often pull against the boat and stick their hips back. Remind them to try not to fight the boat. Let the boat do the work and keep your heels in close.

Wakeboards/snowboarders usually find it easy to get up but have too make weight on their heels to stay in the wave.

People who lift weights often have too much heel weight too!

Tip Tuesday!

Bottom turn with a hop back in

⭐️Drop back in the wave
⭐️Pump to gain speed, on the second pump, as you come down the wave look out to the white bubbles and cut out on your heel edge. Your weight will be more on your back foot here.
⭐️When you are out in the flats and ready to come back towards the wave, bend your knees and push hard into your toes. Extend up and reach back to the wave to hop back in.
⭐️This trick makes you loose speed so be ready to catch back the wave! Look up at that boat and drop that back knee in and down if needed.

This is one of my favorite simple tricks!

Always smiling while surfing 😍

Something about me you may not know.

I used to be afraid of water, and sometimes I still am.
I like to be close the side of the lake and don’t like when a lake is deep and dark. Sometimes when I fall the fear still creeps in. I love surfing but don’t really like swimming or just being in the water 🙈
