Recently finished commission:

Six portrait paintings for the newly designed Signature Suites at The Willard InterContinental Washington, commonly known as the Willard Hotel, a historic Beaux-Arts hotel, standing steps away from D.C’s historical monuments and world-renowned museums.

For those of you who may not know my background, I trained for three years at the Florentine atelier Florence Academy of Art, where I studied classical drawing and painting with an emphasis on creating portraits from live models. Since then I have been a portrait artist and still accept commissions.

It wasn’t until a year-long trip to Patagonia in 2023 that I started to paint without a subject and thus began the current contemporary practice you see on my page today :)

Each discipline informs the other — both painting languages have distinct feelings and personality, and they jointly feed my work and output. I thought it would be nice to share some of my recent portrait work as it’s still a large part of my practice and this was a fun project!

In order:

1. Helen Hayes Suite, Willard Hotel
2. Jenny Lind Suite, Willard Hotel
3. Jenny Lind Suite, bathroom, Willard Hotel
4. The Willard Hotel, interior
5. Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Suite, Willard Hotel
6. Henry Augustus Willard Suite, Willard Hotel
7. Theodore Roosevelt Suite, Willard Hotel
8. John F. Kennedy Suite, Willard Hotel
9. Studio shot, Jenny Lind, London UK
10. Studio shot, Henry Augustus Willard, Theodore Roosevelt, London UK
11. Studio shot, John F. Kennedy, London UK

LIDO OPEN 2025
SHORTLIST

We are delighted to introduce the Lido Open 2025 shortlist. More than 100 artists were chosen by Sophie von Hellermann and Kristen Healy from more than 1,800 submissions. This must-see cultural event opens its doors at The Lido Stores on 20 September and runs to 18 October 2025, with an opening reception and announcement of the winning artist on Saturday, 20 September, 7-9pm.

This is the fifth annual Lido Open, with the winning artist receiving the prize of a solo presentation at The Lido Stores in 2026.

The Lido Stores is well-known for owner-gallerist Kristen Healy’s dynamic and inspiring curation. The Lido Open 2025 will see Healy curate more than 100 works alongside Sophie von Hellermann, occupying the entirety of The Lido Stores for the first time. This, the ninth - and biggest - open call staged by The Lido Stores, introduces a cadre of phenomenal artists to the south-east’s arts scene, the majority of whom are exhibiting in Margate for the first time.

Selected artists please tag yourselves and share widely. Everyone else- save the date!
