The last few weeks have been nothing but whiplash. Today makes one week that I’ve been without my mom and it’s… insane to think about. Planning for her service was paused for the last few days while Carolyn was dealing with her own hospital stay for a gnarly kidney stone, but she was discharged today and we can finally breathe 💜

I would love to see anyone who considers my mom a friend, a bonus mom, a source of great hugs, a friendly face, or just likes being around her at her service next weekend. I want to make sure my dad knows how many people love her like we do. If you’re not able to make it but have any stories, memories, or thoughts about mom you’d like to share, please reach out! I’m going to compile all the kind words that have been shared into a keepsake booklet for her memorial and for our family.

Thank you so much to everyone who had helped with our gofundme, you have made sure that we can take the time we need to grieve, plan a great service, and take care of ourselves while we figure out what the fuck we do now. Navigating this gaping hole in our lives will get harder before it gets easier, but we’ll be okay. Love you guys. 💜

This has been the hardest week of my life. I am burnt out and running on the fumes of fumes. I am taking on an insane amount of responsibility and am struggling to keep my bills paid while making sure that mom’s care is managed.
If anyone has resources on financial support for cancer patients and their families, PLEASE send them my way. I don’t get PTO or benefits, and I’m already struggling from the work I missed when Ashley died.

Please check on me if you think about it. I might not respond right away because I’m so tired of looking at screens, but I’m checking my messages. Thanks love you guys.

It’s always been tradition to wahoo the tree. We’ve never known all of the words, just wahoo.

I have never been more grateful that I thought to set up a camera and record one year’s wahoo-ing, this was 2010. Rules are that the tree must be wahooed before Christmas day is over, and that the five of us are all present for the wahoo-ing.

So many of my favorite holiday memories are because of Ashley. Going to be a long time before I can watch Elf, Polar Express, or The Grinch without turning into a blubbering mess. But I’mma do it all anyway. The wahoo will look a little different from now on, but Ash will always be there.

Man. What a night. The music, the set, the lighting (design by @dmoneyy.gz)—immaculate 🤌🏻🔥. Been waiting almost a year and a half to catch a Friends show again, and it was a much needed night of incredible music and incredible people. Got introduced to @okaykenedi, met some cool folks and got some sweet merch. The energy at @sammyraemusic shows is unmatched, they have created an amazingly kind community of fans and friends and I’m so happy I found my way here. Little man embarked on his final journey today. I am heartbroken beyond words, but at peace. He had a great run and was so so loved, and I will never be able to thank everyone who has helped me with his care enough, he wouldn’t have made it this far without you. What better way to celebrate Halloween than revisit my favorite halftime show. We sounded *okay* but had SO MUCH FUN. Reels only allows 90 seconds, but Beetlejuice and Thriller were my favorite parts 😂

And yes I still remember the Thriller dance.
